I have a brand new Buck Titanium B560-GT-0 in the original box that I've had stored away for years.

I don't think I've ever carried or used it. I was thinking of adding a thumb stud to it and drilling out the rivets to bolt it together.

Do they make a kit to do this?

It has the U.S.A. Flag pictured all over the box

Thank You

No kit that I know of, though there are some handy folks around here that do it on their own. Some of the better knife supply shops should have whatever you need.

I have a few 560's, they're some of my favorites. I'd like to see pic's of yours if you ever get it modded like you want.

Welcome to the Buck Forum Hypermole.

Great topic: Turning a 560 into a 186.

Here is a 560 I bot from the hands of Chuck Buck a few years ago @ OKCA, champagne handles with gold Ion fusion blade, 1 of 12:

Thankyou for the info. Will modding it decrease the value of this knife?

Probably will, especially if the mod is not expertly executed.Titanium is a difficult metal to tap for threads, broken taps are not uncommon. Buck already made the knife you are describing, it is, as oregon said a model 186. They are available on the auction site from time to time, but are getting pricey.

Thank you for the welcome and info. I'm not sure what I will do to mine. I have seen pictures of what appears to be a doubled up back scale?
If I'm saying that wrong what it looks like is the back end of the knife has twice the thickness as the handle closer to the blade.

Does anyone know what this is for?
Thanks

Is this what you are referring to? If so, the knife in my pictures is a model 186, not a 560. It came out prior to the 560 and was discontinued. The addition on the back is a belt clip and is removable.

Yep that's it and boy is that sweet

Is that pocket clip also titanium? I wonder if it would be less expensive to mod mine (if possible) or just watch for the model shown in this picture on ebay or at a estate sale?

After doing a search I have a couple questions.
What is what appears to be a plastic scale in the kit for?
And how does the metal ring and post do and how is it used?

The current bid on a new one is about $350.00 on the bay

Yes, the "clip" is titanium but it is more like a hanger than a clip. There's no spring to it, so it would be held on your belt by gravity only. I just tried to "hang" it on my belt and it won't fit, the belt is too thick (about 3/16" basketweave). The "clip" opening is only 1/8".

The plastic "scale" is actually a plastic sleeve to be put on the blade when assembling or disassembling it.

The metal split ring is attached to a stud screwed into the side opposite the "clip" and holds a hex driver used to remove the screws/bolts holding the knife together.

I have a thumbstud and wrench with your name on it. All I need is your mailing address via email, just click on my moniker.

You are welcome. Entirely my pleasure.

Your mailer is on its way via USPS.

Sidebar: The thumbstud and wrench were given to me by Leroy Remer, knife mangler of fame. From his hand to my hand to your hand. So, if I have this right, you will have a famous thumbstud! :)
