buck toothpick question

hello, new to the buck forum with a question ive been seeing toothpicks stamped buck on ebay and i think i know there decent knives ive been collecting toothpicks for awhile. these came out by smokey mountains in the late 90s thats where i bought mine if i remember correctly there were about 2500 of imitation stag and jigged bone. my question is every time one comes up for sale on ebay how come very few if any have the california etch across the blade like mine did .I bought it when it first came out so did something change after that .so did some not have the etch or am i missing something. thanks for any reply.

I bought one of the knives that are on eBay now. I needed a 333 for my collection. What I got was an obvious second. The shield was improperly mounted and bent. I am sure it was not etched because it was a factory second or reject. I am not sorry to have it. I don’t have to fret about not having one any more but some day I will get a proper one.

thanks for your reply i bought another one awhile back with the jigged bone i know their legitamit knives just wondering why none have the etch.By the way the whole etch is california toothpick.
