anyone have any hands one use of this knife and what are your thoughts on it compared to vantage pro with s30v?

I have both and in my opinion, the Buck/Tops CSAR is a big, clunky knife. More suited for Mall-Ninja (or for someone in the military or EMT field) use that being an everyday practical user like the Vantage pro.;)

vantage is a much better slicer-better all around knife but man its cool to carry around the csar just in case.

I own one and the CSAR cannot be compared to the Vantage in any respect. Different knife. The thing closest would be the Buck Bravo.

The CSAR is huge chunk of knife. If you need to pry the frame off your kitchen door...its your knife.

I agree with this statement from Plum:
More suited for Mall-Ninja (or for someone in the military or EMT field)

I wont create another thread so here is my question,

What is comparable to the CSAR ? ( i have a Strider GB)

Opinions on the pivot and liner size as i cant find too much info on the net.

Tim

Well, I'd say the Buck Bravo since they share a frame design.
The blade is rather unique. It does remind me of a beefier version of the XM-18 Hinderer sort of.

I think it is a really fantastic value if you need/want a heavy brutish knife.

The Buck CSAR is one of the toughest, if not the toughest tactical/survival style folding knife we have ever made. The original Buck/Strider folders, 880 and 881 were good knives. I believe the CSAR is a better all around product. It has unsurpassed lock and stop pin strength, the blade shape is very functional and I feel the handle provides a better grip that the Buck/Strider folders did. When compared to the model 882 Buck/Strider, the CSAR is a heavier duty more rugged product than the 882. The 882 is not bad, it is just not designed or intended for as heavy of use as the CSAR.

@ Longbow ,

Thank-you for the pics mate, saved me trawling the net :).

And pushed me over the edge (so to speak).................. I'm going to buy one from my 'dealer' friend here in Australia.

Thanks Bill also.

regards, Tim

Yep - this did it for me too - I will order one immediately!

Thanks everyone for sharing!

if you need/want a heavy brutish knife.

brutish knife......
brutal knife......

Dear Gordon
You are right, however as always.
In Russia we use the same words for description of a knife of the same style.
The knife is powerful, tactical knife for rigid using.

What are the odds that Buck will offer this with a different blade profile? I'd really like one but would prefer a more drop point profile rather than this tanto.
