Buck trapper with liner lock?

Ask them to show you a picture and don't believe everything you read on knife forums. You can link that topic/ discussion to here. Welcome, DM

Yes, they do but only the drop point blade has the liner lock. I've held that one in my hand and examined it. It is a well made, dressy, large Trapper with bone handles. The steel is non-stainless 1095. If your into that. Now made by Queen. DM

You guys are too smart for your own good.:D

Case, Great Eastern, Schrade, Old Timer, Boker have all made/do make trappers with a liner lock. I think, but am not certain, that Camillus made one, as well. Perhaps your friend was remembering this?

The Camillus made locking Trapper is a back lock, Yellow Jacket model 716, made from 1970-80's. Even Canal Street made lots of Trappers but not locking. DM

Oh yes. I remember, as that was one that did not stay in my pocket and was soon gone. My mind must be going.

I discovered that Western also made a trapper with a liner lock, as has Rough Rider. However, sad to say, I have yet to uncover anything remotely Buck made or licensed.

I think with this large Trapper and the other smaller one Buck or Camillus did not make them locking. I was hoping for just a backlock but no go. DM

I have a feeling we are talking about a different Trapper pattern. Can you post a picture? DM

I went all the way back in Buck's catalog's to 2005 and did not find a model 374. I did find a large Trapper introduced in 2007 model 384. But it doesn't lock.?? DM

A Smokey Mountain Knife exclusive for 2015. Model 374 (BU10238) not in Buck's catalog. In the photo I could not see the liner lock. If you say it does, ok. DM

In 'Blades Guide To Knives'-- Steve Shackleford pg. 153 is a pictorial key to American folding knives. Therein are pictured 3 Trappers, a light Trapper, standard Trapper and Large Trapper. The first 2 being like the Smokey Mountain knife, with double end bolsters a spey and California clip blade from the squared end. The large Trapper is the pattern we have been discussing with one bolster and a deeper bellied spey blade and a drop point 2nd blade. One square end front bolstered, deep handle usually with a lanyard hole. A different looking knife. DM

I have looked every which a way and I cannot find a 374 nor a picture of one. Where did you see it?

I found it on sale at the ... ummm ... Big River Site ...
The 2015 Bill Lowen fishing knife, has a fish shield, "fishing hook" bail, finely serrated wharncliffe blade (serrations are "bread knife" fine).
I wish I could post a picture.
