Ok, so I bought the red wood Bass Pro Shop Buck Trio (the imported version of the Buck Cadet), and I have to say, what a cool little knife. I had a couple of Buck Cadets, and they had Blade play and rough grinds. This little guy is flawless, same as my imported Buck Canoe. When did imports become so good QC wise? I mean, the springs all line up, there are no gaps, the walk and talk is perfect, and the blades are Buck quality. There has been talk on here about the steel the imports use, whether they are any good or not. Well, in usage, they are just as good as the domestics. Edge retention is great, and they take a razors edge. Plus, I love the red wood. It so cool, better then the regular wood scales. I think these are exclusive to BPS, but they are lookers. For the price (under $20), these guys are definitely a best buy. Tough little knives that can cut like the dickens.

Glad your happy.
And yes Buck's Chinese partner is making quality knives.
I had the imported trapper and Dad kept it after his last visit.
I also just purchased the Hilo and Cutback (my only current Chinese Bucks) and they are quality knives.
You know, I prefer to support the American manufacture of Buck knives but if price is an issue or if your a value shopper by all means by Chinese. In the end Buck Inc wouldn't be importing those knives if it wasn't a good financial/business decision for them.

I may have to check out that canoe as its a pattern that appeals to me. Dad is coming again later this summer and he might just like that one too.

Voltron,

I have a 371 wallyworld large stockman my wife got me for valentines day(hate the holiday-loved the present)-disappointed at 1st but once used found it to be a great knife-use it often.

Why were ya disappointed, imafritz?

I wanted the USA 301 not "some chinese junk"-I'll admit when I'm wrong. Although I wish they were all made in the USA, I absolutely love the 371 and plan to pick up a Trio as soon as I can fetch a NIB for a steal.

Yeah, I hate to say it, but my Trio has better fit and finish then the Cadets I've owned. No blade wobble, solid walk and talk, and sharp as a razor out of the box.
