I recently got a CPM-154 110 from bass pro shop and I am loving the steel. Especially that titanium coating. I came across a post that had the Vanguard in CPM-154 steel, where was this sold and is there any way possible I can still purchase one? I was about to pull the trigger on a normal version then saw the CPM version. If anyone has any info please let me know, I would love to purchase this knife. If you own it how do you like it?

Bass Pro also offered the Vanguard in rosewood and 154CPM. I believe it has been discontinued, but you can find them occassionally online on various sites. Its a fantastic knife!

So it was a bass pro offering, huh. Makes sense as that is the only place I see CPM-154 knives other then the Gen-5. Is there a specific model number for this knife that I can type into google to find one? 420HC will do me fine, but the CPM-154 is nice and I love that coating, it never scratches.

If you want an option other than the standard 420HC steel there is a Vanguard produced for Cabela's Alaskan Guide Series using S30V steel. The blade is titanium coated and is available with your choice of rosewood or rubber handles.

Thank you for the input coyote. I was aware of that model and do plan to get a 110 and a 192 in that model at some point in time. I have become enamoured with CPM 154 steel though, takes a razor sharp edge the razor part of the edge longer then the S30V which loses it quickly though does hold it's working edge for quite a while. Figured it is perfect, balanced between 420HC for being able to take a wicked edge and hold it, and S30 V for its wear resistance. That is a good balance for me.

Love my BassPro 110 in CPM-154. Easier to sharpen than 420HC and S30V, takes a very fine edge, very tough steel, and the coating is ultra-hard. Gunk is easy to clean off, maybe due to the coating.

Yeah,my BP110 in CPM154 rocks too, wish it were a custom shop offering. It would give me another reason to have a couple more 110s made, satin finish blades.:D

That BP110 in CPM154 is my favorite version of the 110 I have. I carry it more than any other. I believe that steel is my favorite. Got it on my belt right now actually.
