Thanks to Buck!

I have to say I purchased a Buck Vanguard about a month ago, and I LOVE IT! The wood on the handle is beautiful, the brass pops in the sunlight! I did resharpen mine personally when I got it only because well I love to sharpen knives in my spare time. It has a nice heft to it- knowing that it's NOT some cheap piece that will break and it is very nicely balanced. I took it out this weekend with me where we have trail camera's setup to keep an eye on deer movements. It took out the 1 inch branches so easily it wasn't even funny. After this, I know not to mess with it unless I want to loose an entire finger! :P I did finally get a hands on look at a Buck Skinner locally, but it has squared handle edges that I did not like. This makes me love my Vanguard smooth handle that much more!

Seriously I am loving this knife! Thanks for making an amazing knife!

I agree with you on the Buck Vanguard. It is a great knife and the brass/wood model is a real looker. I feel it get overlooked sometimes, doesn't get enough attention, but it really is one of their best all around knives. Congrats and enjoy!

You two have me hankering for photos don't you know. I don't own that model but enjoy seeing it whenever I can.

There are three different blade sizes for the Vanguard model that I am aware of: Short 3 3/8" (BassPro 2006), Standard 4 1/4" and Long 5" (Virginia Dept. of Game and Inland Fisheries).

The long, regular and short versions of the Vanguard (all photos borrowed):

Here are my two Vanguards. I may have posted these before, but hey, hay is for horses.

(No knife was injured in this photo-shoot)

Excellent of you to post photos BuckShack. Very nice collection. Huge compared to mine. Thank you kindly. Hay, most folk hide their vices! :)

BTW, I keep a closed thread of fakes over here ( http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...ckoff-Buck-Knives-amp-Americans-Who-Sell-Them ) and many are similar to Vanguards which makes me ill so it makes me feel brand new again to see the real McCoy and everyone, even those who can't speak English can see real ones right here thanks to you. Yes they can. Thankfully, it looks like flood of fakes on the big auction site has past and it is a dribble now. The China vendors have skedaddled and only a few Americans and a tiny few others pop up on my radar.

Wow, I can't believe all those Vanguard fakes. It is sickening. They aren't the best looking fakes either, but I can see how non-knife people could easily be taken. A few knives on there made me look twice. I'm glad those dirty rats are on the run!

Very nice examples guys. A definite possibility before deer season and after a Benchmade. This knife collecting sure is a great hobby but ain't cheap.

After waiting so long to buy mine, I definitely say go for it. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised about the knife. The sheath is kinda cheapish but works/rides very well fyi.

After being without a Vanguard for several years I finally got another this Christmas. Since hunting season is over its basically only seen kitchen duty and steak knife duty. Hoping to use it more as summer will be upon us soon. I hope still to add an AG one like I use to have.
