I bought some 1" I.D. 1-3/8" O.D. reinforced vinyl tube. The young guy at the hardware store tried to cut it for me. The grass shears-looking gizmo chained to the rack of bulk hoses and tubes would not touch it. His box cutter would not touch it. He went and got a bolt cutter but the bolt cutter would not open far enough. Finally I asked him if I could try my knife, he said sure. The Vantage went right through it, my biggest concern was being safe and not drawing my own blood when it broke through (been there!)

Kid said, "I guess I need a better knife." Now I feel bad, I should have given it to him.

nice story. Hauled mine out the other night to cut sausage because the owners sharp knife was not sharp enough.

I love my Vantage Pro! I'm carrying my 898 more now, but in those sheep cities and states, I carry my Vantage.

Riddle me this... why can I carry a concealed deadly weapon (with permit, of course), but I cannot carry a push button knife? Is it not a deadly weapon too? Sheep begat politicians who begat sheep...

Move to Missouri.....

After his second try I'da pulled my Buck and cut it, whether he liked it or not. let alone wait for him to go get bolt cutters.

Still one of my top faves for EDC. Here's my Vantage Pro with a giant horse's hoof fungus I recently discovered.

When cutting flexible plastic tubing, it works best if you bend the tube in half where you want to make the cut. Then start the cut on the outside of the bend. The plastic will cut like butter, because the plastic is under tension at the bend and the cut will remove the tension.

Meanwhile, the knife knut says, "COOL!. My Vantage Pro is one of my favorite modern knives."

You guys are making me miss my dymondwood Vantage. Gave it to a friend when I got my Pro with the G10 handles. Maybe it's time to experiment with some custom handles ... ?

Pond, like you I was in my hardware store recently getting a seal for the door of my wood burning stove. This stuff is a woven fiber glass, rope like material and comes in a spool. You measure off how much you need and they cut it. It's fire and heat proof and tough to cut. The employee helping me had on a cap that read 'Vietnam Veteran, Army'. Well, I measured it off and held my thumb on the mark. I had my Trapper with me and it was sharp. This guys says, "you sure that's how much you want?" I said yes and added, you got some scissors? He pulls out his Buck 110 and takes the rope. Makes one pull and handed me my piece. Then added, "scissors are for sissies." As I walked to the cashier, I was smiling, thinking, darn, my kind of guy. This is some tough stuff to cut. It's why they make full size Buck knives with sharp blades. I enjoyed the stories.
