Buck Vantage Force Pro Problems.

I received a Buck Vantage Force Pro for Christmas, when I received it I was very happy that I had it, however in the previous weeks, this knife hasn't seen much use (opened 2 boxes, 10 envelopes and cut some string) yet, the blade already has 3 significant scratches on it, 1 is near the tip and 2 are towards the middle near the end of the serrations, and the coating looks like it has rubbed off in several areas almost completely (can nearly see bare steel underneath it). On top of this minor cosmetic blemish the liner lock frequently pushed all the way over when the knife is opened, smashing the lock into the liner on the opposite side making it hard to release. I've tried tightening it, and it was too tight so one hand opening was hard, so I wound up loosening it back up. What can I do to fix the second problem? Am I being too critical of this knife and the coating? I've had my Benchmade 551 6 months longer and there's only been one scratch in the coating (smaller that the scratch my Buck has) regardless of all the cutting its done, am I expecting too much from my Vantage to be able to compare with my Benchmade?

EDIT: Also forgot to mention, a small chip seemed to come out of my blade right at the tip, small, but noticeable.
Thanks in advance

I like my vantage over any BM I have tried yet.

Cosmetic Issues - That is purely up to you. Me, I could care less as I think it adds character. I mainly carry a case peanut and a SAK and both have scratches all over. I like it. If you dont then you dont and you can start buyin knives with a tougher coating like your BM. Its nothing to worry about as far as function especially since your Force is a stainless knife.

Locking Issue - Now that would bug me. I would send it into Buck and with their Forever Warranty they will take good care of you. And your knife will come back sharper then it was new!

Good luck and post up your final decision!

The coating on the Vantage Force is Black Oxide. That being said it is not actually a coating, it is the surface conditon of the steel. (eccelerated rust)
It will mar and scrape off alot easier then some of the higher end coatings. The condition of your lock is not acceptable. Send it to Buck describing the problem, and it will be taken care of.
