Bought two; one all black serrated, one olive serrated....OBSERVATION: the black has the serrated grind much 'deeper/higher than the other. Anyone else experience this inconsistancy?

Most all production knives have pretty pitifully ground edges. Even in some of the higher end production knives I have noticed uneven grinds, inconsistent grinds, and just plain dullness.

Cold Steel knives in my experience have some of the best factory grinds. I have gotten some Buck knives with very keen and even edges, but I have also had some duds that required touching up on my own.

I have no experience with that particular model, but its not at all surprising.

I have been EDC'ing the Buck Vantage Avid in Sandvik steel for a few months now and like it a lot. It is partially serrated , which was not indicated on the clam-package either in picture or description when I bought it, but I've kept it and used it well and it's a solid working knife that takes a great edge.

I would be unhappy. I have one partially serrated knife and it has a specific purpose in which the serrations are suitable. Other than that I would want to know specifically before that I was purchasing a aim edge knife.

Thanks for yr reply, same experience as you. The black one now is EDC for work cutting pallet straps, boxes, etc., the OD olive non-coated one will be for civilian EDC interchanged on occasion w/C.S. Voyager Lg plain.

Right, had to work on the edge of the blk Vantage, was dull at the tip plus slightly 'chipped'. OK now but, obviously would rather not perform touch up / fixes on new knives. Thx for yr reply.
