I was recently recommended the Buck Vantage Pro (smaller of the two) as a edc work knife. I work in a warehouse and cut alot of cardboard and plastic strapping among other things. What are your thoughts on this knife for this task?

Any help is much appreciated ;)

IMHO the Vantage Pro would do just fine however, I have both the small 342 and the large 347. For me the large is much more comfortable and easier to use. Not so much because of the longer blade but because of the longer handle. Just fits my hand better. My suggestion would be to try and handle both before you decide

Definately check out both sizes before buying if at all possible. I'm of the same opinion, the smaller version is just too small for me.

I triple that, the small is too small. Nice for a wee man maybe. Go for the large, unless you are a wee man. Really you can't go wrong for the money.

I EDC the 347. It's lightweight, takes and holds a working edge, and the pocket clip rides discreetly in my pants pocket. The shape of the blade straddles the line between tactical and utilitarian, so it won't immediately scare people away, although the "thwack" of the flipper can be quite loud depending on how hard you flip it.

Here's a comparison photo of a few of my Vantages so you can see the size difference.

I use a Buck Vantage Pro (large) as my EDC but slapped Avid (dymondwood) scales on it because I think it looks amazing. For any EDC chore I come across, the knife is more than adequate. However, I don't think it has enough traction for heavy duty use. The Vantage Force Pro might be a better option.

I love my Small Vantage pro for EDC, but I would really consider the large model for all the industrial stuff you would use it for. The ergo's of the bigger handle should serve you much better also.
