So just got a Vantage Pro Small S30V, happy as a clam, then realized I can't open/lock the blade. It would open but then it won't lock, so it is allowed to move back to this point

As you can see, the liner doesn't lock, it is either the liner or the blade pivot is too long.

I can barely get it to lock if I forced it or snapped it, neither is ideal or easy. So I just go this, should I send it back to seller for exchange or send it back to manufacturer? Or just use the dremel and polish that portion. It really isn't much metal, but it shouldn't have passed QC either. Thoughts?

If you have had that knife less than 30 days I would send it back to the dealer. Check their return polices. If more than 30 days send it back to Buck.

I would NOT attempt a self repair!
Might be quicker to go the exchange route with your vendor.

Their website says to make all warranty returns to the manufacturer. I'd contact Buck and explain what the problem is, when and from whom you purchased it and see what they say.

It's a tiny little defect you can see on the left. That should be straight but who ever grinded it let off too early.

*sigh*

I think I'll just fix it myself, too much of a pain to have to pay to ship it back to manufacturer or dealer

Just called them up, they say to send it back to them but they won't cover shipping, doesn't seem right to me. I have to pay for a knife + shipping from dealer + shipping to Buck because their QC failed through. :thumbdn:

quicker than me, putting a dremel on it, with a polishing wheel? ;)
Yeah, I saw that they don't cover warranty exchanges...polishing wheel might not do...
A small grey grinding wheel would...you'll have to be carefull and match the angle of that grind.
Do you have the dremel work station? I find it easyer to secure the tool and manipulate the work piece.
I also keep a glass of ice water to cool the steel between passes.
After seeing the last photo it looks pretty straitforward...
Good Luck!
