hey bladeforums,
what is your opinion on the buck vantage. i have heard mixed reviews but it looks like a solid knife thats meant to be used. Any on own it, if so how much use can it put up with. thanks.

I like mine. It's a stout knife for a $50 folder. I like the steel and blade shape better on the Vantge Pro than the Lahar.

In the price range there is nothing I'd rather carry then the Buck. So it goes to work with me every day...

So far. I've never had an issue with the quality of any Buck knife I've owned.

I've only had it a few weeks, but I use a knife a lot. If you don't use it for things you shouldn't use a knife for, I can't see you ever having a problem.

I have a Vantage Pro that I have been carrying since Father's Day.
Very solid. Between the liners and the G10 scales, the thing is built like a brick... er..telephone booth.
Excellent blade design.
Easy to sharpen.
Came very sharp.
The S30V holds an edge better than VG10.
I've not checked the hardness yet.
Incredible value. Show me another knife in that price range with dual liners, G10, and S30V steel.

Recommended.

For the $50 dollar range, the Buck/Strider 889 is still my favorite Buck knife.
