S30v! Seems like an awesome deal for $60! Can anyone vouch for the performance of the knife or for the heat treat? I've been looking for something with this steel that I can afford!

Any and all input if appreciated, thanks guys!

The only problem I ever had with the Buck Vantage Pro was that the blade wasn't centered. I don't care as long as it clears the liners, but some people hate that.
The other thing that happened was that it chipped near the bottom while cooking bacon at New River Rendezvous. Not sure how I managed that one, but I'm sure that's on me. I find that the Paul Bos S30v holds an edge like nobody's business.
This also happens to be the only knife where I keep the clip on, because it rides so deep.

I got mine for $45, you can probably do better than $60 if you look around. Best of luck.

EDIT: Was a pain in the ass to sharpen, but I was new to sharpening, and convexing it all at the same time.

Thanks for the quick reply! The non centered blade would drive me absolutely insane, that I already. It's good to hear about the great edge holding ability though! I'll try and shop around a bit see if I can get that price down.

Any other opinions?

Mine was off centered also but it was an easy fix. I removed the scales and loosened the two screws on the butt of the knife, hold the blade centered and tighten up the two screws, reinstall the scales and you are done. I tried centering the blade by tightening the pivot screw but that caused the blade to be difficult to open
I think its a great knife and it is my EDC

Bob- sounds like an easy fix! Thank you, the more I look at it the more I like it. Think I might have to pick on up in the near future!

My Vantage Pro is a favorite that pops up more often in my EDC rotation than it should. It's solid, deploys smooth and easy, and has ZERO blade play in any direction. It might be the best deal on the planet for a knife with S30v steel.

I have more expensive knives from Benchmade and Spyderco that don't get carried as often as my Vantage Pro. The blade on mine is off center in the closed position, which matters not a bit to me. It locks up solid, carries deep in the pocket, is extremely comfortable during extended cutting, has a great blade profile for cutting, and has the best heat treat of any S30V I have tried.

If you want pretty cosmetics, go buy something else.
If you want premium performance at an economy price, you cannot do better than a Buck Vantage Pro.

Very good knife, mine is perfect handles a little smooth but have not had any issues. The heat treat is bar none, it hold an edge like a champ. Use diamond to sharpen or it will take a long time. Its a great buy at that price point. I don't care for the tip up carry though.

Big +1. A Boss heat treat plus the Buck warranty, how can you go wrong?
