I did a search and found nothing on it on bladeforums. I would like to see photos other than the stock photos from the site they are selling on. I was excited to get the Virginia wildlife 110 with fox head etch and then when I got it I was quite disappointed in the etch. I want to get the 113, but don't want to be disappointed with the etch....anyone seen one in person?View attachment 846088 View attachment 846089

Gosh, no........I thought this thread was about poaching.......somebody caught with 113 Brookies.

I will take a guess, though........I bet you'll be disappointed with the etch. Most are crap these days.

I have them all except the 102 and the most recent. I'll dig it out for a photo. Personally, I think the laser etched cherrywood boxes are even more fabulous than the knives. /Roger

I don't see anything wrong with that. I don't know how else Buck would put that picture on the blade without etching vp.

Thanks Desoto, That's exactly what I wanted to see. I do think it is better than the fox etch on the 110, so I might have to grab a couple, if for nothing else the wooden display!

Most color pictures on Buck knives is know as Pad Printing. Like the Ram on the Cabelas AG series knives.

Desoto, can you run your fingernail across the fish and tell us what you feel?

I have this knife also and many others in the collection. This is one of my favorites. Most of the etches are perfect but one in particular has a flaw. The 119 with the bear on it. I forget the year.
Love them all though . Especially the boxes they come in .

I don't know the actual nature of the image. It has no surface texture. It is not a decal nor a pad print like the AG knives. It's just there on the surface of the blade. Under magnification you can see the surface texture of the blade surface in the image. /Roger

Well, by whatever method it is done, that one looks pretty good.

Although you never know until you see it in person.

It also appears to have a REAL Buck Custom tang stamp. That's getting to be rare these days and worth buying.

I tracked down an old pic of mine since I sold my house all my knives are in storage.

Wow Vorpal, you found something nice to say about something...
Now doesn't that just make you feel good?
You almost undid it with the next two sentences but I'll let you keep the 'thumbs up'. :)

:) I say nice things all the time. I criticize only a few things that need to be criticized (like cheap etchings and laserings instead of the good, old-fashioned tang stamps that we used to see).
I don't recall criticizing anything other than that recently.
I may be a contrast to the starry-eyed sycophants who drool over anything sharp and shiny that Buck wants to sell, but I'm well within the limits of constructive criticism of a great company with a great history.
:)

I would buy it. It's got a trout on it. It comes in a box with a trout on it. Trout season is around the corner.:thumbsup:

I'm a sycophant :D Okay, I did need to look that one up to enjoy the full flavor. Who says you can't learn stuff here.

I am nothing if not an advocate of learning.

:)

Also.......I like trout, too. Nothing more beautiful than a fall brookie.
