I just saw a picture of a knife that was represented as a Buck that has a tang stamp in which the last the letters are lower case, not upper case. "Buck" instead of "BUCK".

I'm not an expert by any means regarding Bucks, my old 77 110 says "BUCK" and pretty much every Buck I've looked at says "BUCK" too.

Indication of a fake?

I've checked out a few out of curiosity and found that the ones with an "old english or script" style B in Buck, have what appears to me to be lower case. Did the one you saw have a block or script style B?

Yes, exactly. The same is true for the lower case numbers. Old English Script is a nice description of the font. Definitely different from the normal sans serif type font I associate with normal Buck tang stamps.

So... there is precedence for this?

you learn something every day and for me and this day, that was it!

thanks!!!

No problem. Some examples are the pre-"86 700 series, the 500 Dukes and early 111 Classics and some older custom shop models. I'm sure there are many more.

Yes, the early 500 series, 700 series, the Classics and Empress Trio sets utilized the old English script stamps. These date mostly from 1973- 85. I've even see this stamp on a model 125 Streammate from 1985. So, it appeared on many models. It is my favorite stamp. DM

I have a Buck Over USA fixed blade slicing knife . B IN BUCK is an old English B.
This was made between 1967-1972. Tried to post photo from my android but don't know how to. If you know how to tell me and I post it.

Welcome to BladeForums! And the Buck sub-forum!

You can try a photo hosting site such as Imgur (which is free).
