Which would prove the most durable for field use. The Buck or Marble's. Uses would consist of everything from sometimes skinning game to shaveing kindling for firewood. I was looking at the Buck 102 and Marble's of similiar size.

Thanks, MIke J

Either would do. The Buck is a better beater but the 'stainless' steel is more difficult to sharpen and doesn't hold an edge particularly well, IMHO. Marble's 52100 steel is easy to sharpen, holds a fantastic edge but will rust. It is also a very tough knife with a thick tang that extends to the end of the handle. Nice leather sheath, too.

Alberta Ed pretty much said it. I have been a Buck fan for many, many years. They are great bangs for the "Buck" (sorry) and good beaters. They have a very stainless stainless and are not prone to corrosion. However, I have seen easier knives to sharpen. Marbles, on the other hand, are carbon steel, and a very good version of carbon steel, IMO. It seems to provide a better edge and one that is easier to keep keen. Bit it requires more care as it is carbon.

You would be set if you bought one of each.

I would get a Buck for the situations where care is not that easy and the Marbles for those times when care is an affordable luxury and a good, easy to keep edge is needed.

Two great choices for the money!

Buck gives you a nice leather sheath where Marbles gives you what they call a sheath but you will likely buy an aftermarket replacement.

BTW, Customer Service is great at Buck and just as good at Marbles, according to what I am told.
