Friends, I'm on another mission. Which of the the two would make a better EDC, executive money clip? And why?

I thank you...in advance..for youtime and consideration.

I prefer the Waimea. I like the ergos better. I will always pick Ti as a handle material over G-10. I like G-10 a lot but Ti is my favorite. I also prefer the blade shape of the Waimea more than the Leaf Storm. I don't think you could go wrong with either....it might just boil down to personal preference.

I love my Waimea, it's a nice little light EDC knife and very sharp.
Titanium and S30V can't go wrong.

I haven't owned a Waimea, but I had a Leafstorm and was underwhelmed. The handle was too small and thin and sharp-corned and it felt my hand was going to slip forward onto the blade. The opening and closing wasn't particularly smooth and the unusual G10 color didn't grow on me. Spyderco makes many great knives - maybe more great knives than any other company - but the Leafstorm ain't one of them IMHO.

For me, the Lone Wolf Paul Presto is a cheaper, better, alternative. So is composite-blade Kershaw Leek.

If you want to stick with Spydies, the Caly 3 is slightly larger but much better for about the same price.

I don't own either but just from reading specs and looking at photos I would lean towards the Buck.

I had a waimea and examined a leafstorm, I think the leafstorm is a little bulkier.

Another consideration - if you use the clip to hold $$ rather than clip to a pocket, and if there is anything else in that pocket, it will rub against the non-clip side - which means that the finish of the titanium on the Buck will show more wear from pocket-time than the G10 on the Spydie.

I don't have either, but Spyderco puts out a mean S30V. For that reason alone I would go Spyderco.

Not one to advocate a knife as a money clip. Too many potentials for incidents.

I handled a Waimea, but is didn't really "do much for me".

I use a Leafstorm in my office carry rotation. It is a small knife of good quality, light in weight and of good materials.

I don't get this "bad ergos" stuff. Rinky little knives aren't "heavy use" and can never be such as long as the handles are so short. The handle of the Leafstorm indexes two fingers well for a good, solid grip.

Depends on your needs of course but the LeafStorm, nice as it is, is a three finger knife basically, at least for guys like me. The Buck you mention fits the hand a little better and as I recall it is available in a couple size variances.

Who said "bad ergos?"

Ergonomics really are a personal thing regardless of knife size. Being easily retained in hand and allowing comfortable usage are important factors in considering a knife.
I haven't used a Leafstorm, but if someone isn't happy with the ergos, I won't bash them because it's just personal preference.

Good question.

Where did it go?

I think I was the only one who actually used the word "ergos" and I simply said I preferred the ergos of the waimea to the leafstorm. I never said the leafstorm ergos were bad. I've seen this said in other threads.......this might be a case of thread osmosis. :D
