Buck "Want" List

Dave and I jokingly mentioned a mid year "want or wish" list so I thought I would kick one off.

I want a user fixed blade made along the lines of the 121/105 . Which is 5 1/2 inches long on the 121. Which is my preference..

I would like the handle to have the rubber on it like the 192 Vanguard. Maybe not quite as big a round, but a little bigger around than the handle on a 121. Would want the handle to be as long as the one on the rubber handeled vanguard with either an upward curve for the thumb, or the cross grooved thumb slots like on a 470, or maybe an alpha folder.

Want the handle more rounded like the vanguard. The handle on the 470 is too squared off for me. (flat across the bottom).

Weight should be around 5 oz.

And of course, I want BG42, CPM154, or S30V steel.

You guys must have the Bucks all just the way you want them....

Another want, and I have posted this before.

A Buck sharpening system, maybe similar to the clamp lansky, that specifically matches the E2K that Buck is putting on their blades. A nice tight system minus the play that the lansky has. Adjustable to a specific knife (blade).

Big wish huh..... I would pay big dollars for one that would take a lot of the guess work out of sharpening. Guess I will clamp the blade here this time,,,no,,,maybe back a little,,,oops too far back,,,rats,,now too far down.... .

Well, I didn't want to say what I wanted due to being kind of new. I would like 5 inch knife with the blade design of the 119. I know the 102 is like a mini version but something with the heavy balde like the 1198 just not quite as long. I like that heavy clip blade.

I also want the current lineup of buck knives to be available with 154Cm, BG-42 and S30V :D that would be great :D

 ...I'd like to see a BG-42 112...In my drawer...LOL...That one has eluded me like a snipe at midnight...:p

I agree with a lot of you guys!
For many years the buck 119 was my most expensive and "high tech" knife.
I got one in high school and used it for 25 years all over the place, on tons of game, and miles and miles of backpacking-camping.

In the last 5 years or so I've moved on to "better" knives which mean "higher grade steel. The 420 is just too soft for the time it takes for resharpening. While I love the shape of the modified birdshead handle the pheonlic resin is way to smoothe for serious or dangerous work with wet, colt, or bloody hands. You simply can't hold on to it if things go wrong.

Same knife (maybe an inch shorter), better steel, rubber handle or a course micarta to get a grip on.

What is my favorite right now, besides my Randall? I bought a Buck limited edition 819 (the same blade profile as the 119) in S30V, took off the skimpy little walnut handle slabs and replaced with some beautifully textured Elk antler and mosaic pins.

Put the 819 into regular production with bigger, better grips.

...hmmm...I seem to remember seein' a 619 up for bids somewhere...   ...darn memory is going further south than where I live...:p

Welcome to the Forum!!!

I agree on the 819 but I would be more like to use its little brother 805, with grips like the rubber handeled vanguard. I knew there was something close to what I was describing above, but forgot about the 8xx's....

I carried an 805 hunting last season, but couldn't bring myself to use it....

yes please...pics of your 819 modification!

I would pay good money for a Code3 Crosslock in S30V!!!! (or any steel better than 420HC) They allready have the PBS Alaskan Guide in this steel, so why not the Code3 ???

My want list of recent/current production Bucks is already too long..... 889, 651, 403, 120, 110AG, 271, 277, 419, BuckTool.....

My want list includes any historic version of the 124 along with several variations of the 110 that I've not been able to locate. Trouble with the 110 variations is they are difficult to distinguish from others without close up inspection.

I think Buck made a 605 which is a 105 blade with a Kraton Handle which should meet the need for the rubber handle knife. Also, Vern Taylor had several 119s with BUCK tang stamps and a shortened blade. I think the blade is around .5 to 1.0 inch short and given that the one line knives had narrower blades than the current knives, the blade appears quite a bit smaller but still has all the features of the 119. I would contact Larry Oden to see where those knives went if you want one. He might be able to find one.

I would like to see a 655 with a plain edge. I would really like one for camping and hiking, but I dont like the serrations.
