Buck Warranty.

184's don't make good choppers....they are not full tang.
Even full tang knives donot like chopping it ruins the edge.
you might try a small axe such as a 106.
They have an edge designed for chopping.... and the weight in concentrated
in the head of the axe instead of the length of a knife blade.

Buck Warranty:

Warranty

When you purchase a Buck Knife, you buy a knife for life. Please read the information below for explanation of what is covered by our lifetime warranty and how to obtain warranty performance.

Warranty Information

All Buck Knives are warranted for the lifetime of the original purchaser against breakage or malfunction caused by defects in materials or workmanship. This applies to normal use for which the knife was intended, not abuse or misuse. Buck Knives will repair or replace any defective Buck knife with the same or comparable model (please see “What is Covered” below). If you have any questions about your knife or the warranty, please call our consumer hotline at (800) 215-2825.

Product Warranty Registration
You may fill out your warranty registration in either of two ways:

1. Online: On this web site, please click on “Register Your Product” in the warranty registration section in the left margin and fill out the form.

2. –OR- you may fill out the warranty form that came with the product and mail it to us (address is indicated on form).

What is Covered
Repair of your knife, including parts and related labor, or replacement with a new knife. To the extent allowed by law, the sole and exclusive remedy under this warranty is limited to repair or replacement. Note: repair is not always possible—some older knives can fall apart during repair. If repair is not practical and replacement involves a discontinued model that is no longer available, then the closest comparable model available will be used for replacement. Note: if it is important for you to receive your old knife back in the event of replacement, please include a note to that effect and include your phone number and/or e-mail address.

What is Not Covered
Damage caused by misuse, abuse or failure to perform normal knife care and maintenance; damage from self repair; machine sharpening; knife loss, including shipping to and from Buck factory; transportation charges to Buck. Abuse, misuse, dismantling or tampering with your knife, or sharpening your knife on a power-driven grinding wheel voids your warranty coverage. For repairs not covered by warranty, please see Knife Care & Repair.
The Buck 4-Ever Warranty applies to the lifetime of the original purchaser, and does not cover misuse or abuse of that knife. The decision of misuse or abuse or not is up to the discretion of Buck, as it should be.

Instead of using that knife for chopping wood, why didn't you use the saw on the spine for "woodwork?"

Cause, that doesn't look as "Rambo cool" as hacking away does..right up until that happens anyway...:)

The blade is more fast than little saw.

Is that not what a bolo machete is for? Chopping small branch's and limb's should not be performed with a knife; IMHO. Did'nt Buck make a knife like a smachet for a short time?

Maybe on the first branch, but waiting months for a replacement/repair kinda extends the time of cutting the second one after the break doesn't it?

:)

I usually use knives for chopping, and with Mission, Nexus, Busse, ATAK and others haven't problem.

They are full tang ..... they will not break as easy as a knife without a full tang..... but they will break sooner or later.... they are" NOT "axes.
Mission is out of business .
Look at your edges and you will see chips broken out of them.

No offense, I was just having a little fun with ya! With full tang knives I have chopped and batoned at times also, but Evil Eye Earl is right, a hollow handled knife constructed the way the Buck 184 is, will not take much of that.

Now a Chris Reeves fixed blade might, hollow handled but all 1 piece of steel.
