Well almost 4 weeks ago I sent in an old buck 110 of mine with a blade wobble and worn lock bar. I'm going crazy checking the mail ever day hoping it has arrived back home safe and sound. Not yet LOL could be a few more weeks but it reminds me of when I was a kid checking the mail box every day like that kid Ralphy on "A Christmas Story" waiting for his secret decoder ring. I can't wait to see what buck sends me back. My wife is getting tired of me talking about it so I thought I would talk to you guys here.

I sent an email to the Buck Knives warranty dept last week regarding a possible repair and in their response I was told they have had a large surge of warranty work going on right now and that they had about a 6 week backlog. So it could be a couple weeks yet. I would be patient and give them their time to work their magic.

Buck's warranty service goes way beyond what could be reasonably expected. I wish I could send myself back for an equivalent makeover:o.

Just for future thought "a trick" a method we used for wobble discription meaning from side to side when open. I'll call this at "ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK" back in the day 60's 7 70s me and my friends would take a old motorcycle tube or some nice soft wood and put the front bolster in a vice soround the front bolster both sides with a piece of inner tube or 2 blocks of soft wood tighten the vise very slowly and what I call popping it back in! some times it sounds like a pop or snap back in, but go slow and don't go FULL BORE on the poor "SILVER GOOSE" she needs to be treated gently. You'll be surprised! with the result....but like I said at "YOUR OWN RISK" or just send it to BUCK. Its a just a quick fix......

That's probably it then, thanks :-)

That's a good trick, if I hadn't already sent it in I might try that, It was an old no dot 110 so I'm hoping for a nice solid repair.

I sent an old 110 in for the spa treatment earlier this year. It took about 6 weeks. The work that was performed on it made it well worth the wait. Have patience my friend, you will be well rewarded.

Spook your welcome! just remember sometimes it wont make a pop or snap back in....but will depending how much pressure you give to it will definitely tighten it up! sometimes it takes barely any pressure it depends on how much wobble that's there. Our *110*s were our ~MULTI TOOL~ back in the day before Multi Tools. And we did not go anywhere with out them on our hip, riding our dirt bikes for day rides etc fixing cars, dirt bikes etc ....We did what worked for us as a quick fix......It may not ever wobble again either after this treatment but no gaurantee's. Allot of wobble that came from those 60's & 70's 110 came from people like us! LOL

I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas morning again :-)

Ya it's funny to think back what it was like "pre-Multitool" I remember those days too, we sure got a heck of a lot done with just an old buck knife or stockman.

Yes about the only thing was the [+] swiss army knife, and I did have a Stag handled knife with a Spoon & Fork on it. I wish I could remember the brand an that I still had it!

Spook, see how the pin is on the front bolster in the 1st photo on the BUCK 505, this is what I'm talking about when we used this old trick to "pop it back in" to get rid of the wobble from side to side......your essentially poping the bolster back level with the pin....

I see that, pretty cool tip. My lock bar was getting shot too, it actually stuck up about an 1/8 inch above the spine when open. I did get word back from Buck with a tracking number today, my knife has been repaired and is on it's way Home!!!!

all right I just got my Buck back and did a short youtube video of it. They did such an amazing polish job, I thought they sent me a brand new knife. I wish I would have taken before pics of it. I never imagined the amazing transformation this knife was going to take. They put a brand new blade in it for me. It might be an anniversary blade I'm not sure, It says buck usa with a anvil with a 50 in it. All that and only a 10 dollar cost! amazing people the buck family to rebuild a 40 year old knife for 10 bucks!

Spook thats awesome! its hard to tell, did they bevel the wood handles towards the pins from the edge of the bolsters? just wondering recieved a knife in recently which I posted about, where the handles were beveled very high! rising from the edge of the bolster towards the pins.

Yes they did a FANTASTIC job! on your knife and you did a nice job with the KUDOS out to them......and thank you for sharing that video! an your knife after going for a spritz....LOL

Nice video. Thank you so much for sharing the finished knife with us. I've sent a couple back to Buck, just a spa treatment and fix some blade play and was both surprised and pleased with every one. Pretty amazing what they can do, even when folks ship back some heavily used and abused knives.

Ya it is beveled, I think they had to do it to get the deep scratches out. It looks so cool, like a boat tailed speedster! It's the sexiest looking and feeling 110 I've laid my hands on. I think I would like to bevel all my 110's now.

Spook, part of the reason I was asking is because I bought a 110 recently and post on the forum about the raised handles towards the pins.... I posted photos of how beveled they were. I thought the knife was made from the factory like that.....I even put calipers to the bolsters an ran a comparison against other 110s and they came in very close in MM's... check out my photos of the ramps! LOL http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...-did-they-bevel-the-scales-on-wooden-handle-s

Yes that is like mine, mine is not as abrupt though the bolster and the wood all just kind of taper down to the end. I had some really deep scratches that were removed on mine and I think that's just how it has to be done. I really like the taper and bevel on mine now is just more "sporty" looking and feeling.
