I picked up one of these used for a cheap price. I have been playing with it, but I am a bit underwhelmed. This just seems like a really awkward knife. It neither functions as a knife or bottle opener very well. I guess I am trying to figure out why this design ever made it to production. It seems very bulky for a pocket knife offering only a 1 inch blade and an awkward to use bottle opener. Can anybody give any insight into this design? It might have made sense if the big opening functioned as a carabiner like the Approach.

Also, this is not a criticism of Buck Knives, I own probably 20 or so different Bucks, this is just the first one that I have ever just scratched my head at.

I assume you mean the Metro (several Bucks are designed by someone named Whittaker and have the name on them).

The blade is hard to make use of, but the bottle opener design is fairly common. I haven't actually tried it, but that style of bottle opener seems to sell. I think the swiss-army-style claw works better and I would rather see some knife based around that.

Yea but guys, for the 6.99 i paid at eddie bauer i think its a neat like back up blade. The fit and finish was nice too. Its a great little knife to throw on your keychain and forget it till you need it.

Yeah, it's still neat. I have one too. Somehow I couldn't pass on that cheap little egg-like thing. :)
