Can anyone tell me what is going on with the X-Tract? All the online stores I've found that sell it say that the X-tract is on back order. None of the local stores that carry Buck knives have even heard of it.

Send Larry Oden an email... he might be able to help.....

And Welcome to the Buck Forum !

You guys help me out some here. Or maybe I just haven't had enough coffee yet this morning.

My understanding of an integral rear spacer/spring is that it is cast solid to one side of the frame.

I can see this in a couple that I have. These being brass. I understand also that some rear spacer/spring holders are not integral and separate pieces that is pretty obvious by lines and maybe some coloration. Again all brass

So as I was researching a new addition (not 1st version), something jumped on me and I am cornfused.

Top left hand pic on pg 506 of the Blade guide mentions an integral STEEL spacer/spring.

Its talking about the description of a 1st version and does say in the description that it is a separate piece of steel.

So what part of this is integral? Cornfused as usual...

I believe that that version had the return spring as part of the spacer...all one piece...not the short spring rod the 110/112 use now...

Edited once...so far...(incredible as it may seem, I've been wrong before)...

Here's a pic of a disassembled Idaho 110...I think the 1st version had the spring (that rod) and the spacer as one piece...

Rats.....that was supposed to have been in a separate post.... need more coffee.

Thanks Trax.... I obviously need one to dismantel... :)

I also was going to suggest Larry Oden, as he is the only one I have seen advertise the X-Tract (and at an attractive price). ;)

I've seen other knives with the spacer and tension spring integral, but I've never taken an old 110 apart. But I think I've read this somewhere...Matheny???

thanks trax..... I opened a new post..... Not a good day here so far ....

Sorry for messing up your post 665... Larry Oden is one of our resident GURUs and source for our addictions. Knife addictions that is.... I need more coffee...:o

I dont know what is going on, But I can say that a seller (knifestore) on ebay had several they sold for around $25.00 each. Keep looking they are new it takes time to get them distributed.
