I bought one of these over the weekend and I really like it. I absolutely love the one handed opening and closing of all the tools on it, I am very impressed with the pliers/wire cutter. This is the first time I have seen a can opener with a liner-lock on it, and it really works without the danger of it folding in on you. I bought mine in midnight blue, SMKW had a platinum model, as well as a camo "mossy oak?" model. This is the first multi-tool I have really liked the feel of.

Anyone else have one of these? Would love to hear some comments on the knife.

Nice to see some response on the X-Tract. I am currenty looking for a mult-use general use knife. Personally I can't get use to the feel of a regular mult-plier and the X-Tract seems more of what I would feel more comfortable using. The discription states that the pliers are spring-locked or something to that effect. Are the pliers comfortable in the hand for use? Does it come with some kind of carrying case?

The pliers are very good, very comfortable in the hand...the bottom handle is essentially the grip of the knife. It came with a nice sheath, can be carried either vertically or horizontally. It is hard to see how well this knife works from pictures...once I handled it, I was sold. The blade is quite substantial as well, definitely not the normal blade found on most mult-tool knives.

the x tract got some pretty good reviews in a recent blade magazine,,forgot which one,,,think im gonna pick one up soon

I read the same article...it is what prompted my interest in the X-Tract. Once I got it in my hand...there was no way I was leaving without it...especially since it was under $35 bucks. For the money...this is really a great knife.

I'd like to pick one of those up too. I like how this "multi-tool" emphasizes the knife more than having excessive gadgets. I was looking at the summit by buck just because I had not heard of anyone getting the x-tract. But for around 30 buck this knife is in my price range.

I like the idea of the X-tract and find it to be implemented fairly well but I ended up selling mine because of the light-medium use nature of the pliers.

Due to the set-up of the plier handle it is extremely difficult to get a solid grip on most small to medium objects. This reduces the overall utility of the tool and was a deal breaker for me. I may get another one though, it is a lovely concept.

I have some scans of the article for those who missed it, is posting acceptable?

I rather like the pliers/wire cutters myself...but for the purposes I want to use it for...it is perfect. I play guitar and am thrilled to find a wirecutter for strings that I can carry to a big barn party right on my belt.

How does this feel compared to a leatherman wave, is it substantially lighter? Does it feel better?

I handled one of tyhese at the store today and after some time to think about it, I have been sold. I like that it is based around the knife (which I use most) rather than the pliers. Also nice that it is entirely one handed friendly. I am ordering one right now.
