Buck X-Tract?

I don't have one but I have played with one and it's actually pretty good. I'd say it depends on what your priorities are; do you want a knife with tools and pliers, or pliers and tools with a knife?

The pliers on the Buck aren't all that bad but they'll cope with a lot less than something from SOG. The fact that everything on the X-tract is OHO is a nice feature though.

Two quite different tools so it's kind of tricky to directly compare them really.
 
if you want/need good pliers the Sog is the way to go. the x-tract is a nice tool, very easy to use the tools with one hand but not the strongest pliers.
 
I have each of these. The pliers are the SOG's strong point and in my opinion the X-Tract's worst. The knife on the Buck is quick to employ and very useful, the rest of the tools are a toss up between the two. The SOG is probably the toughest kid on the block for daily use and sometimes abuse!
 
i just orderd a buck will see how it does. i wanted it for edc and fishing
 
I too wanted buy buck x-t for edc. but now choosing between LM Wave or Sceletool or buck.
 
I'm thumbs up for any variety of knife based multi-tool. Seems to me that there are so many different plier-based, but the knife-based market is primarily SAKs(which I love) or knock offs of them.
 
Funny, I use to carry all sorts of MT's (including the X-tract), but these days I have fallen back on my SAK plus a LM Juice. I liked the X-tract because of all the tools I use daily, the blade was the one I used the most, so the Buck made sense. But the pliers really leave a lot to be desired, even more so then on most SAK models. But the blade is where the X-tract shines. One wickedly aggressive knife.

So these days the Buck tends to be my loaner MT, spends most of it's time sitting in the glovebox of my truck.
 
i got the Buck a few days ago and it is a perty cool little tool i dont think it will replace my wave but ill try it out for fishing and see how it does. im like you MrCoffee i still EDC my Farmer SAK!

Yeah, hard to beat that combo. I am actually carrying a Vic Fireman today, and most days I have a Woodsman I had Scibeer build for me. No way the Buck could replace my Surge or even my Juice. But it is a cool little tool, none the less. Gotta love that blade, eh. :D
