Take a gander and feast your eyes on what 45 smackers will get you from the local pawn shop in this neck of the woods (Buckcote 110 with correct leather sheath + Memory series Whitetail Deer 525A4 with papers and box)(note: pics taken pre-cleaning)(also note: asking prices were $25 for the 110 and $30 for the model 525):

Thank you kindly for looking.

What's at the pawn shop in your neck of the woods?

After a little cleaning you get this slideshow via flickr:

OK.

The Buckcote blade is sharpened only on one side. The cote protects the blade and was designed to help make the sharp cutting edge stay sharp longer. It came very sharp and pointy so I haven't touched it. The color of the blade is slightly yellow. I don't know if you can see it in the pics or not.

I'm thinking about cleaning the beautiful 525. No hurry. It is mostly pristine as is. I'll probably just put it into an alcohol bath, wipe gently, dry and then use a tiny amount of mineral oil on the pivot. Fitting to have a pic of a Buck on the handle of a Buck knife.

Oregon, great find... I love to go to pawn shops, you never know what your going to find... You did good...
That 110 looks sweet and the pics are nice too... I like picture with the 110 on the anvil... Great idea...
I think I'll take a few pics with my knives on my anvils too... :)

Thanks for sharing... ITE

THX ITE. Fun for me to be sure.

Goin into a pawn shop puts me on guard a bit. Seems kinda dangerous.

The one in Southern Oregon, Medford, where I discovered the Titanium 186 had more police, all armored up, than customers. It took a while for them to clear out so I could get the clerk's attention. Never did find out what was going on.

The one yesterday had nervous and tense clerks. Don't know why.

THX Grim.

I'm really enjoying the Buckcote 110. It cleaned up good.

That tiny vintage anvil sure has a lot of character and a complex patina.

A few more pics, Year of the Dragon forever postage stamps with Buckcote 110:

Seems like pawn shops generally have to deal with the cops quite a bit, for all sorts of reasons... Tracking down stolen property, robberies (seems like these places get hit pretty frequently, compared to other retail businesses), sometimes even *trafficking* stolen goods... I imagine it's generally pretty stressful to work there.

Anyway, nice scores! And cool pics, thanks for posting.

Nice finds oregon, I just had a "pawn shop" of sorts open in my area. Stopped on Friday night around 9:45pm with full neon in window lit as well as the neon open signs blaring. Went to the door to find locked and store closed:confused::thumbdn::grumpy: Who ever heard of a pawn shop closed at 9:45 on a friday night?

The operators of your local pawn store were probably busy donating their time in a beneficial manner to your terrific community. Good luck finding treasure(s) when you get to shop there.

In this neck of the woods, however, pawn workers probably reinforce the security measures of their stores after dark. I live near Portland and crime has always been a fact of life here. I rarely visit shops here and when I do it is always during "banker's hours" of 10-5 (daylight).

Don't click this link over here, uh uh, don't do it, too much fun: http://www.youtube.com/user/Jakeknapp#p/a/u/1/FqtYKcA3_Og
