Buckcote Sticker Question

Just looked at my 1996(?) Buckcote 110 (C110-z4-0). While the box has some creasing in it, it is essentially NIB.
While shecking it out, I noticed some crud around the clear plastic sticker on the blade. The sticker that says "DO NOT SHARPEN THIS SIDE" or "Don't run with scissors", whatever.

Anyway:
A) Should I remove the sticker so it does not mess up the golden coating through time?

B)Should I attempt to take the sticker off, clean the crud, and then replace the sticker?

C) Should I leave it totally alone?

D) Does anyone else have any other thoughts/suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your help.

In addition to collecting Buck knives, I'm also a book collector. My advice would be to leave it alone. To remove the glue or "crud" without damaging the box, you would have to use a special solvent (I don't have that information, but you may want to check with one of many bibliofile websites) If you're successful, then you have the issue of how to replace it. Bottom line, try to stabilize the box so no further damage can occur and call it good. You need that sticker on the box.

I think you might want to read his post again. He's not talking about the box, but the sticker on the blade.
Sorry, mfinden, I can't help you with that one.

I've got grey, gold and champainge coatings on Bucks. I've used Flitz with no issuses. I took the sticker off the gold one, cleaned, then reapplied it. Now I just clean around the stickers. I think it would take more than the adhesive on those stickers to affect those coated blades.

By golly you're right. I guess I need to clean my glasses. :o I would try to get in touch with Larry Oden or some other long standing member of the BCCI who may have insight as to the appropriate way of dealing with the sticker. I'm afraid I have no idea. We can all give you ideas as to how to remove it, but the question remains as to what effect that would have on the value of the knife as a collectible.

Perhaps some can help. I just received a collector's knife as a present. In the presentation of the gift, it states: "Early in the 1990s Buck began the manufacturing of a very selective folding knife made of gold-titanium. They strated with a run of 1,000 but it did not sell very well. They ended the run at 1,000. Accordingly, it has now become a collector's item.

Can someone tell me about this knife. 1) Is it indeed a rare item? 2) I love to use my knives, but this one has never been taken from the box. Is it taboo to remove from box and put it to use?

Thanks.

Thanks for the replies and related advice.

Doubt I'll use it though. I'm not sure if there would be any real advantage to using it over the 110 or 111 three dot I use for EDC (if there is, I'd like to sincerely know).

The Buckcote 110 was something I wanted just 'cuz I'm addicted to hoarding diff M/NIB 110 models. Guess that makes me a Buck Hoar-d.

Thanks Again and Happy Sunday...
