I drew my brother-in-law for a Christmas present (don't ask why my wife family insists on exchanging gifts between siblings). Each person gets two people and sends two gifts dealeo. Target price-$40. So in Sept two of the sisters visit and I show them my shop and knife tinkering. The brother-in-law heard and the sister tells my wife “he wants Gordon to make him a knife.” I wish could grind well enough to feel o.k. to give a knife away. Well, he happens to be from Columbus OH and is a big OSU fan. So I did this Spalted Buckeye Buck 112 today. The darker colors are a tad bluer than in the picture and I see a little linseed oil still. But a different look I think.

That will be one fine gift. You are craftsman Gordon and you must have got all those rats out of the way!!! LOL

It rained all day so I thought I'd knock out this Buckeye for my brother-in-law. But I do have 2 cords of green oak to stack in the wood shed. Dat was one ole dem big rats and I ain't killed 'er yet.

So this is my modifications to date:
I think I'll do a few more.

Man, you gotta stop this scale swappin. Got me eyeing every piece of wood I walk by.

Cut down what is supposedly a hickory back last spring and noticed some of it is still in Moms firewood bin.

Then I know where there is a huge old log of mesquite with a bunch of burls in it that has been on the ground for a long time, and for that matter a bunch of it all nice and green and growing mistletoe, out in moms back yard that needs cutting down.

Now I will even be eyeing some of this local cedar (Juniper Ash). As if I really need another hobby....lol

Or,,,,just make a drive around to the Texas knifemaker supply. Been wanting to go check it out again... its been a long time.

I think this is among the best you have Done :thumbup: Love that wood....

The next time there is an opening in your family, let me know. I'd like to slip in an application and resume. Probably too late for Christmas this year but I'm looking ahead to next.
