I'm sure y'all got them so show em. I wanna see what belt buckles those of us in the traditional forum wear and what knife y'all wear with it.

Sold the knife, but still have the buckles and a few more.....:D

I'll use this opportunity to thank you again Tim and Al for gifting me the buckle after getting started on my Davison collection. I have yet to get a nice belt for it though.

Just out of curiosity Jack.....what number did you get?? (I was given #82 to match my knife pictured with it, #1182, which is also my birth month and year)

Very nice Jake :) I won the buckle in Tim's giveaway before I got the knife (#1204), so asked for 61 to match my birth year - That's 1961, not 1861! :D

The gardening buckle is not for wear any time that bending at the hips might occur.

I am not a member of a northwest coastal tribe, but we also have a raven god. No tribal claims for the knife, either.

Thanks Robin. Navajo, circa 1920s.

I was admiring your sandcast buckle as well. Good stuff!

You can always tell the old pieces, yours is a wonderful piece.
Mine was actually converted ;-((( from and old ketoh bow string guard in the 30s I was told. The chap I bought it from told me his grand father had made the ketoh and then converted it to a buckle in the 30s. Great buckle,Much better ketoh. ;-)

Best regards

Robin

Very cool, Robin. Yep, your buckle would look great as a ketoh on old leather.

My buckle was converted from a concho belt. Still has remnants of the copper loop that was snipped off the back. My other Navajo buckles are from the 1970s. I've owned the one with three stones since 1976. My parents bought it for me when I was 15. :)

Very cool buckle. Do you have any information on it? Is it Northwest Coast? Any inscription on back? Age?
Thanks.
No age to it; I ordered it in the early 80s or so from a catalogue that sells Australian whips and hats, Celtic buckles and jewellery, and Northwest coastal buckles and jewellery. The catalogue still exists and still has a Raven buckle, but by a different designer. I like mine better. Tlingit or Haida, if I remember aright.

Confederate war time manufactured belt plate. These were stamped from copper on hand carved oak dies. The belt hooks were one piece of bent telegraph wire crudely soldered to the back. Shown with, (ironically), a GEC Yankee Jack in Osage orange.
