I just received this Bucklite 422BKS-B, CAT. 3789
The sticker on the box says 7/13/23, however the date code mark on the blade is from 2012
Did Buck have a bunch of old blades / components laying around and do a run of these last year? I am thinking according to their catalog this model is obsolete and it is not on their website, but maybe they did a special run for someone? Would this be new old stock? Thoughts?

this model has been discontinued for a long time now. where did you get it from? Buck direct or some dealer or store? I'd say if from Buck direct, its likely nos sitting on a shelf complete or parts sitting in a bins somewhere found and was assembled.

I think Buck did a run of these last year in a web special. it was old stock found in that run. they never said if they found parts or just found old inventory. I seem to remember that. my guess is it came from that Buck web special run.

I ordered it from Chicago Knife Works, but it shipped from VA, so I am assuming it dropped shipped from Blue Ridge. Knowing that, it was probably a special run for them or they have some old stock in their warehouse. I am seeing the same knife on several other online retailers too, so I am assuming Blue Ridge is their source as well.

I got a 424 from DLT a couple years ago. They appear to be made from old stock handles and old stock blades. IMG_1862.jpegIMG_1861.jpeg

I see blue ridge has a bunch of those web specials models for sale from that run Buck was selling. so yep. chicagoknifew is a drop shipper and all comes from blue ridge.

it's old stock.....either parts assembled last year or old stock sitting and found in a warehouse inventory count clean out.

I must say I really love this knife. It is lightweight so it rides easy in the pocket, but still fits the hand good. Blade is like a razor, very very sharp. Exactly what I was hoping for. I was planning on ordering a Buck 112LT from the Scout Shop, but this hit the spot!

All through the 80’s and 90’s that was my “ go to” knife. Cleaned many a trout and field dressed a couple of deer with it. I lost it on a trip to New Mexico in 2003 and missed it so much I bought the one pictured last year on EBay.
