Stopped at the hardware store yesterday for something else and there in the display case, staring at me like a puppy was a slick little Bucklite 482. It reminded me a bit of my first Buck, a Ranger, which I carried (and wore out a few pockets) until I had sharpened the blade down to a nub. So, naturally enough, it followed me home. My usual EDCs these days are either a BassPro 110 or a BM Mini-Rukus, both of which are great knives – but they’re heavy. I wanted something I could stick in a pocket and forget I even had it until I needed it. Handle is glass-filled nylon, tougher than nails, light, corrosion resistant to practically everything, and the blade is Buck’s tried-and-true 420HC. It was already sharp (Buck’s Edge 2X edge profile really works) but five minutes on the DMTs took it to a hair-popping edge. Its spring is fairly stiff -- too stiff to easily use the thumb studs -- but it's already starting to smooth out (with a drop of BreakFree). It's also small enough with a 3" blade not to frighten the sheeple, and it would be a good blade to carry when traveling. I’m not giving up my 110 or Mini-Rukus by any means – I’d love to see Buck produce a Lite model with a S30V or CPM-154 blade – but the 482 has found its way into my pocket.

Congrats on your new knife, Ed. I have yet to pick up any 'Lite' models, other than a little 283, which I am quite fond of.

So i was on ebay and decided to buy cheap kershaw crown.Well the seller emails me saying he can't find it in his inventory and offered me this instead..Nice score what a upgrade :)

Wow......you DID get a deal. Luck of the draw.

I guess I should be ordering more Kershaws.

:D :D :D

LOL...I collect a few different types of knives but my most expensive is my custom Buck 110.I just love it .I posted it in the Sunday picture thread and the regular picture thread .check it out..The seller has more of these set forsale

Very disappointed with the fit and finish of the Bucklite. As you kinda tell by the pictures they didn't finish the blades very rough not polished ,grind lines running through them.Nice and sharp but blade had scratches on it not impressed

The Buck 482 is one of those knives that you appreciate more and more as time goes on. I bought a few on a whim when Buck had them for sale on their web specials site last year, figuring I'd use them as stocking stuffers for the guys in my family. I was so impressed by the knife's light weight, ease of opening and great blade profile that I went back and bought two more just for my personal use, including an orange handled Boone & Crockett version. The 482 has become my 'dog walking' knife and at the 2012 Blade Show I had it in my pocket when I ran across C.J. and Chuck at the Buck factory booth and had them both sign the blade.

The 482 is one of Buck's sleeper knives - unpretentious, great design and low price. I love 'em!

I just got it so haven't carried it yet.It is very sharp i wish this model had a thumb stud on it..I was just surprised how rough the finish was and bran new it has scratches on the blade and the bad grinding marks

For the price point I think you have to expect a little give and take in the finish department. For this kind of money function is more important than cosmetics.

I expect more from made in USA my Buck Bantam has the same issues.I guess that's why some moved production to China even Buck.So if i want a knife from that price range it seems my china made knives are better quality fit and finish wise

That may be your best bet. Of course you won't have a forever warranty and the steel and heat treat may not be what they are claimed to be but if they look like you want them too and that's your piority then you should buy what makes you happy. That's why I like collecting knives so much. Lots of variety and no one HAS to buy anything let alone something they don't like.

Very true I love my Buck 112 and my Custom Buck 110 is awesome ..When i'm talking China made i mean Buck and Spyderco and Kershaw.Spyderco and Kershaw China made are very good quality for the price .So is my Buck Flashpoint that's why i collect all kinds of Knives.I love Buck my pride and joy is a Buck its also my most expensive by far

Sure we do. What are the specs on it? Handle material, blade material?

The problem is, you posted it buried in a Bucklite thread. If you'd started your own thread to show it off, I'm sure you'd have gotten more responses. ;)

Its S30V satin finish with smooth asian waterbuffalo horn handle and silver bolsters and it has finger grips just can't see them
