Greetings all,

Wondering if anyone has tales of significant use/experience w/ the Buckmaster 184 in the real world and how did it perform and hold up.

Inquiring minds wanna know;).

Cheers,

My short experience with a 184 was that I bought one, didnt like the way it felt in my hand, stored it for a while, then sold it. Just not for me.

There are some people here that REALLY love them. You can see that in the price some of them go for.

I had a squad leader back in 87 that had one. We all thought it was the coolest thing. He was a Ranger and had been in the 75th during the Grenada invasion so we all thought he walked on water, lol. He would carry it on his duece gear when we were out in the field, which was prett often back then. I dont remember him using it much but it got him major cool points at the time. He also had a Randall 15 and thought the Randall was the better knife.

Here is a SF Officer evaluation from early 1985! I have three SF evaluations in my book. Plus other REAL life experiences of how the Model 184 saved a few lives.

I found the evals in your book...interesting stuff. Still working my way through this impressive reference.

You put alot of work into your book. It's an excellent reference for Buckmaster owners/fans.

hells bells I had one o dem tacky cool bucks... and several 124's
imho the 124 was a better camp knife ... never been in de jungle so cant say what survival use it might be
but .. I sold mine as I only collected the 110 at the time ...
the saw back was fer cutting for primer cord as I was told ...
the spikes .... well lots of diff thoughts by lots of different folks in those
look cool but not sure atall what real reason fer them was ...

I bought one in the late 80's and within a week 1/2 inch of the tip snapped off. I re-profiled it and used it for a while but eventually gave it to a buddy.

I bought my buckmaster from a guy on craigslist. Apparently when he was traveling around the world this would be his go to knife. The neatest story he had told me was that he had used it to cut a net off of a whale that was accidentally caught.

The weight is the problem here. As cool as it is, it's a brick hanging on your belt.
Still, if I find one for a decent price, I will buy.
