A friend of mine wants to get one of these and tells me that he is willing to pay up to $250.00 bucks for it. I told him that IF he finds one in my opinion that is way too much. I told him that he should not pay more then $150.00 and that would be stretching it. Who's right?

Maybe he always wanted one and could'nt afford one and now he is willing and able to pay extra to get it. I lucked on to one at a gun show for $100.00 in mint condition and I love it. I'd hate to carry it but it's fun to play with.:)

Who's right?

You both are. There are several versions of the Buck Master. The Patented version in 420HC with the wide fuller on the blade probably sells for around $150 in excellent condition, a bit more if you have the original box and paperwork, or, the rare large sheath pouch. The earlier Pat. Pend. knives in 425M date to the first years of production can go a bit over $250 in the same condition.

I have always wanted one myself but cannot find one at a reasonable price. Why did Buck stop making them anyway?

depending on where you look you could both be right.I have two of them and would like to purchase another.I bought one in the early ninety's when they were still in production, the other recently from a fellow forumite. These are great knives if you don't mind the weight.I rarely carry mine,I just enjoy owning them. For a carry blade I chose CRK,same idea, just lighter.
