Not sure if this is news or not, but I figured I would share.

I was just at WalMart and they had a Buck 110 set for only $20 bucks (well, $22.50 or something like that).

It includes a 110, Buck keychain, sheath, and commemorative tin.

I figured 20 bucks is a good price since they go for 60 bucks at full price, and 30-40 is considered a good price for them.

If a 110 for 20 bucks is nothing special, then I apologize.

So, are these 110s shipped as parts from China and then assembled in America?

Is that why they can mark them as made in U.S.A.?

Anybody know for sure?

Could someone tell me if the sheath is leather in this set? Thanks.

The one complaint folks in the Buck Knives forum have had about this set is that the nylon sheath seems to be of very poor quality. Buck packages great Cordura sheaths with lots of their knives, but the nylon sheath with the 'canned' 110 seems to be of lesser quality, which might be how they were able to hit that low price point.

The knife is a standard 110, though.

Thank you letting me know. I wish they had better sheath in leather. Well... like you said, nylon sheath explains the low price though :o

The sheath that came with my old 560C is excellent. Too bad to hear about these new ones...but it's 20 dollars....we might have to deal with less than ideal stuff there.

Chinese though....I don't think I'll buy it for that reason...someone confirm the Chinese stuff please.

The keychain and sheath are made in China.

The knife is a real 110. Made in America.

Just buy it for 20 bucks and throw the sheath and keychain away. 20 bucks for the knife alone is a great price.

Yeah, at $20 you can give them to friends for Christmas or throw them in toolboxes and glove compartments.

Besides, how many people that frequent the forums don't have a nice sheath that will fit a 110? I have a dozen or so as part of a long ago quest for the perfect belt sheath.

Any fan of the 110 would be well served by checking out the 4" Maxpedition Tube sheath any way. For ~$11 it's the nicest nylon belt sheath I've seen. Don't worry about the fact that it was designed for a flashlight, it fits the 110 perfectly.

See it here.

So, for roughly the price of a regular 110 you can have the knife and a kick-butt sheath. Put the can opener and included sheath in the gift tin and pitch it in the trash :)
