With the addition of the "370" series knives made in China, I thought that meant that the "300" series U.S. made stuff was being discontinued, but now someone has told me that Buck will still make the U.S. made slipjoints also.

Anyone know for sure?

I also thought they were going to only be made in China. I was then told that Wal-Mart only wanted the Chinese versions. Had I known that I probably would not have bought one there. The reason I did is I thought that was how it was going to be and I wanted to see if I could still get a quality 300 series knife.

I'm curious if they are, so far I have nothing but good to say about the chinese made ones, the 379 I have is great. They are selling at Wal-Mart for the same as the U.S. made stuff was, so I don't see why Wal-Mart would only want that line, since they are not any cheaper.

Hopefully someone from Buck can answer for sure????

I'm sure Walmart loves the Chinese models. Just because they sell them for the same price doesn't mean they are paying Buck the same price for them. I would bet they are making 2-3 times more profit then with the USA made Bucks. It's all about $ to Walmart, they don't care if affects jobs in the US as long as they make their $ they are happy.

Why is it when the majority of people wave the "free market capitialism" flag, they then acted shocked when it bites them in the a$$?

I too hate the USA loosing jobs overseas and I like buying American when I can...but I had 2 Buck USA 301's with weak springs, one had the pin sticking out about 2mm, and one has the logo shield in uneven. One side is about 1mm below the level of the scales.

Then I went to Wally World last night and looked at 2 of the overseas knives. All I can say is the springs were stronger (not too strong), the blade grinds were even and it was sharper than my US 301's. Overall I am sad to say I liked the non-US knives better.
