Bucks 420 hc

is bucks 420 stainless comparable to 1095 high carbon...? I was looking into buying a buck nighthawk then saw the 420 ( I'm more of a carbon guy)?

-If the edge retention of just the two alloys is measured, 1095 at a 57-58 HRC will hold an edge longer. But, IF you factor in the Buck blade geometry, I would guess they are about the same if cutting cardboard.
-I cannot comment on the relative toughness. I have no data.
-I find Buck 420HC a bit easier to sharpen than 1095.
