I've been looking all over this forum about some info on this.BTW search isn't my friend at this time.

Anyone have personal experience with this steel used in a knife...ie:Buck/Strider series,Mayo Cutback,Summit,Mantis...etc.
Rc hardness,ease of sharpening,toughness??

I've seen some pretty good deals on Bucks lately & was wondering about this 420HC.I always been under the impression from personal experience using 420A this is generally a low quality "edge holding" steel with good corosion resistance. What does Buck do to the 420?

I've recently aquired a Buck880T w/ATS-34.It's a monster of a knife.:DI really like the Strider influence in this one:thumbup:It came to me pretty dull(it was used)Sent it in for reconditioning & sharpening.

I've always like liked the overall style & function of most all Buck knives.

I'll be the first to admit I've become somewhat of a "Steel Snob" since joining this wonderful, informative forum;).

I rarely buy anything less than 154CM in ss folders.

Buck 's 420 hc is a pretty good steel easy to sharpen and a good edge holding! 58 rockwell!

Dan pretty much summed it up!

Don't get 420A and 420HC confused though ;)

I like it and use it in some of my EDC knives, it doesnt hold an edge like S30V but its a heck of alot easier to get sharp again...
Me personally, I like my 880, and 882's with the ATS-34 or 154Cm as well.
I do have and use several 420HC knives though. Good luck! let us know what you do :)
