The thread with the deer got my heart going for deer season.

Here is a pic of my 2007 buck...the second largest buck I've taken. He was field dressed with a Skeleton Warden!

but nothing like that corn fed monster you got

Bambi!! Come home-BANG!!! Marinate in apple vinegar, fresh sliced garlic, the most wee bit of lime juice, Red Pepper... I'm thinking venison Ka-bobs w/ Hickory smoked bacon squares, onion, a pepper slab, pineapple and a hot fire tended by a cook with a cold adult malt beverage.

10 pt from two years ago. The rack doesnt look terribly big but thats because the deer was pretty big. Not nearly as big as Patricks but for Northern PA its a good buck.

9pt from last year also in Northern PA, same spot almost same time of day.

There is a very big 12+ buck that I have seen this year and last year....hoping to get it this year.

I have others but none that I have photobucket links too. If I can get some pics loaded I got more :)

Nice deer fellas!

Here in east Texas, they rarely make it to 3 years old. But in South and West Texas, we have some good ones... Just need to make a friend out that way, lol.

Barrabas74, that's not a deer, that's a pig with antlers.

Too cruel guys. I'm not hunting this year as I've no place to go. I'll have to be content with the one I took last year. 18" inside spread, scored 130 with a broken brow tine and g3.

Nice deers you have there, where exactly were you?

My family has a Farm in Tioga County PA about 8miles from the NY border not far from rt.15, we have seen a resurgence in Large deer. I have seen a few really nice bucks in the past 5 years. It seems that 3 on one side two on the other rule is helping rack size...unfortunatley good breading means young deer that get to 6pts(which will be nice bucks later) get shot and sometimes weaker or lesser bucks get to breed. Its a double edge sword imo but right now it looks to have paid off.

The 9pt was even bigger boddied than the 10pt. I have taken some really FAT deer both there and on PA state game land. Here in MD I have taken some good deer but they are usually thinner

My family also has land in KY and my mom/dad/myself have taken some good deer down there. Those deer seem to get really high racks but lack width from what I have seen from many taken.

Its interesting to note antler/body characteristics from different places.

17 subspecies of wt deer in North America. All with subtle differences in body proportions and antler characteristics.

The differences between the whitetail taken in OK versus PA are striking.

The northern woodland whitetail,Odocoileus virginianus borealis, is the largest and generally the darkest in coloration. It also has the largest range, being found in Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, and the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Quebec, Ontario, and a portion,of Manitoba. More whitetails of this subspecies are hunted than any other.

The Texas whitetail, Odocoileus virginianus texanus, is found in western Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, southeastern Colorado, eastern New Mexico, and the northern portion of Old Mexico. Everything about Texas is big, even its population of whitetail deer. Texas has four whitetail subspecies, of which the most abundant is the Texas whitetail. Its body is much smaller than that of the more northerly deer but it is the largest of the southern forms. The antlers are slender but widespread and there are several record heads among the top twenty-five.
