I gave my wife Buck's Kitchen Cutlery set for our 21yr. anniversary . She just loves it . If you've not seen this set, its great . A 13 piece set with a oak block and 12 knives and you can choose between different handle materials .
The knives came very sharp and fit and finish were great as well . I chose the green earth stone for our handle material as it matches our counter tops and she wanted a material that was user friendly . Its the first time Buck has offered a set like this and it even comes with a spreader knife . DM :thumbup:

I'll be getting one this year. Does the set include a sharpening rod?

Cool David, what a Great gift... ... keep them out the dishwasher... :thumbdn: ... ITE

Any pics????? :D

Wolf, No it does not . Anyway, you'd need a small diamond rod as many are serrated . ITE, it states right in the catalog these are dishwasher safe . The knives with other handle material are not and it says to handwash those . DM

David, Leroy told me not to put my kitchen knives in the dishwasher because it puts pits in the blades... But, he was talking about the older sets... I'm not sure about the new ones... Only time will tell... Either way, it's a nice set... ITE

What a cool gift, nice work David. I wish I could afford the Buck kitchen set offered at Cabela's with the stag handles. However, for a poor fellow like me it's just a dream;).

Congratulation on the 21 years David! I'll bet the Missus was thrilled with the set.

I never run any of my kitchen cutlery through the dishwasher, even the ones that say they are safe to do so. I've seen others that looked pretty lousy (not really damaged, but...) after being washed that way. It doesn't take much effort to wash a knife by hand and put it back in the rack. Coming from a slob like me, that's saying something!:)

JB, Yes. the Elk antler are dressy . I looked at a lot of kitchen supply stores and priced many and those set don't offer anything more at the same price range . Plus, theirs is made from unknown steel and unknown heat treat and don't carry Buck's guarantee . Plus, my wife has met and liked Chuck Buck's wife and she remembers that when she uses them . A set like Mrs. Buck may have made it in vogue for her .
Plumber, I agree and she does not take any chances either she handwashes them . DM

Plumber, you have to be somewhat the gentlemanly type because you found favor with your mother-in-law ! DM ;)

Congrats on the purchase! They are great knives! I bought the set for my wife (Me ;) ) a couple years back. They are fantastic! I wish I could swing Bucks new elk antler set but I will be happy with the rosewood. ( I mean the wife will) LOL

Yours must be the new ecolite material handles then? Paperstone?

I can hardly wait for pics! ;)

Congrats on you and your wife turning 21. Now you both can both go to a cocktail lounge and legally buy Champagne to celebrate:rolleyes:

Now you have the Empress set for your kitchen work and your wife has the Buck Kitchen Cutlery (Queen's Set) for her kitchen efforts.

Telechronos:):):)
