Buck's Warranty?

I recently tried making some adjustments to my Buck Impulse spring assisted knife, and overall did what I wanted, up until reassembly. I know how the mechanism works, but just can not seem to get it together. I was wondering if Buck's warranty covered this kind of issue, or if I'm completely out of luck?

Are you saying you tried to "mod" your knife, and now it wont go back together? Unless that knife is meant to be user adjustable I think you just screwed yourself. Hope you get your knife back to working right. I screwed up a sog when I tried to take it apart to clean it, and it was a $50 mistake.

Larnuk, just wanted to say, welcome to the Buck part of the Forum and that Buck has the best warranty out there... ITE ...:thumbup::thumbup:

Just contacted them, hopefully there won't be a fee; but I wouldn't mind it because I really don't have many knives right now anyway.

Did you remove the safety? Some don't like the safety so they remove it.

Perhaps the above, long and thorough, linked disassembly/assembly video of a similar knife will be of aid to you.

I have a 296, ATS 34 BOS, that operates without issue. I kept the safety. Never tried a disassembly.

Just my opinion, but I'd never expect or even ask for Buck to repair under warranty, a knife that I had disassembled and couldn't reassemble right. That's just not a warranty issue. :thumbdn:

This makes it pretty simple.
THE BUCK FOREVER WARRANTYThe Buck Knives Forever Warranty is pretty much what it says. A Buck Knife is built to last. But if for some reason, your Buck is defective due to materials or workmanship, you can return it to us for repair. No matter where you bought it.
We will repair your knife, including parts, labor and or replacement with a new knife at our discretion. Keep in mind, repair is not always possible or practical. We will replace your knife with the same or one that is comparable if your knife is no longer available. Please note if your knife has sentimental value when you send the knife to us.
REPAIRS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTYIf your knife needs to be repaired, please send it to us for evaluation. Don’t try to repair it yourself. Self–repair will void your warranty, not to mention that it could cause self–injury.
Reasons why we may charge you a small fee for a repair Damage caused by misuse or abuse. Failure to care, clean and maintain your knife. Damage due to self–repair. Knife loss due to shipping to and from the Buck Knives factory Damage due to dismantling or tampering with your Buck knife Sharpening your Buck knife on a grinder.

Doubt it would cost to much for them to repair. Hopefully you get it figured out and wont have to send it in at all.

I was cleaning out my bought used on the bay Sirus and it came apart. Unscrewed the screws too far. With the help of a guy at work we got it back together. With the washers, springs, lock and all the other stuff it is a bear to put back together. Buck has a gig that they use and I am sure they will reassemble it for you. Put all the pieces in a zip lock bag and send it to them. I am sure the charge will be small to get your knife back together.
