Just finished up a bucksaw and thought I would share. It's a Bahco 21" peg tooth blade. It's hickory hat I burnt a little cause I like the look. It only has one coat of BLO now and have to change out the pins and get a better piece of fatwood for the windless. He mule line is some I scored off the utility crew pulling power line on the road side.

Let me know what you think.

Looks great.

I built my first one on my last outing (just brought the blade, and a bit of bank line, and made the rest of it with wood I found there), and it was nowhere near as well done as yours is. I learned quite a bit though, and I'm going to change a few things for next time.

Next time I'm making the side pieces taller, because I found that I was hitting the crossbar on pieces of wood that were five inches or so across. And with a 21in blade, I found that I wanted to cut larger pieces of wood. Making the side pieces taller would help (that's my theory for now anyway :)), so maybe give that a try if you feel so inclined in the future.

Good work, and let us know how you like it after it gets some use .

I did want the sides taller, but I also wanted the sides to fold around and cover the blade, so it had to be half the length of the blade. I too, I'm restricted to about 5" logs, or ten if I cut from both sides!
I made a bush craft saw first, and it worked, but not easy as this one. But I like the idea of being able to make of fix a bucksaw out in the woods.

I see now, somehow didn't notice that it was already pre assembled (meaning, you put it together and its meant to stay together, not that it was purchased ready made or anything like that). Nice design, and nice work :). I'm sure its much better and more stable than what I made. Maybe I'll attempt one after I make a few more "bush saws" under my belt.

And yep, sawing from both sides (or rotating as you saw) works great, sometimes its difficult to get around the log (if its in a position you can't easily manipulate or move around), but it usually works just fine.

Cheers!
