I've tried forever to find out how many different variations of the BuckSkin series there were.

I have 5 different - Natural Shark, Alligator, Oyster, Peanut Brittle Lizard & Burg. Eel.

Does someone know what else is out there and if so, can you post it here?

Thank you!

Haebbie, brilliant archer & horseman, has a photo of many of the variations of the 529 Buckskin Series in post #9 (2nd pic) of the above-linked thread of SPS. Not an answer to your question but a great picture from a serious collector.

Joe Houser, one minute dash empresario, answers your question in this thread: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...l-529A-(pocket)?highlight=buckskin+variations

"The 529A Buckskins were first introduced in the 1988 catalogue. There were seven variations offered. Alligator-529A1-15000, Oyster Eel-529E1-6500, Burgundy Eel-529E2-7000, Peanut Brittle Lizard-529L1-8000, Black Shark-529S1-9000, Burgundy Shark-529S2-1500, Natural Shark-529S3-1500. 1991 is the last Buck catalogue they appeared in. Prices ranged from about $48 for the alligator to $35 for most of the others."

Welcome to the forum. Take your shoes off and rest a spell. :)

I can think of another, the Knife/Wallet combo pack. It has "simulated lizzard handles" and the wallet has a matching panel. 529W1P.

... the passable archer and the miserable horseman, but thanks, Oregon for the flowers ;)

The Buckskins:

it is not as easy as it looks like.
yes, DSS, the first Buckskin was the black lizzard ot of the wallet set (1987)

1988 came the first Buckskin series in Brass frames with the models,

Alligator
Oyster Eel (white)
Burgundy Eel
Peanut Brittle Lizard
Black shark

1989 we find the second series in the catalog with nickel silver frame

Black Shark
Natural Shark (white)
Burgundy Shark
Alligator
Peanut Brittle Lizard

1990 and 1991 there's no hint regarding the frame material. But the picture
in the catalogs are the same like 1989. The Models are not completely the same.
Burgundy shark was discontinued in 1989. Instead of the shark Buck offered the
Burgundy Eel (with the wrong piture).

I am at least not sure which skin was offered in which frame

But I am still working on it.

Thank you all for the information, links and pics. I have one with no box with the nickel silver frame - was wondering about it as well.

I'm guessing the Oyster is Eel - Is that correct?

Thanks again

I don't know if it is correct. You can get an answer if you show uas a picture.

As Herbert display shows, the Eel skin was available in 2 different colors, white and burgundy. The white Eel skin was also referred to as oyster Eel in the catalogs. The word oyster when used as a color descriptor is a pale beige tinted towards gray or pink.
