I have two of these and they are a little different from each other. The one below has nail nicks on both the knife blade and the saw blade. The other one has no nail nicks at all which makes it difficult and a little dangerous to open those blades.

Could that be one that just missed having the nicks put on the blade or did they come that way intentionally?

Since I can't find any date stamp, is there a way to determine when each of them was manufactured?

Well, with just a little research on the BCCI site, I answered most of my own questions. The one with no nail notches was the original that came out in '97. The next year they added the notches and then the tool disappears from the catalogs after 2001.

I guess there's no way to know what year the one with the notches was made?

Hi Plumber... I also have several BuckTool (s) and noticed this as well. Perhaps Joe might shine light on this beyond my response, but I can tell you the last one I purchased in closeout was in 1998. I don't think Buck stamped a date on theirs like Leatherman does.
If they did it is hidden. I have BuckLiteTool's and BuckTools all purchased from 95 to 98
brand new.

Based on what you found, I went and looked, and it was Xmas of '96 when I bought the first one. I figured the nail-nic was late or end production models cause that is my Xmas'98 model.

Bucktools Rock! I have no idea when or where I bought mine but I'm glad I did. I use it a lot more than I ever used my leatherman. I think they are very under-valued multitools.
