Was web surfing looking for some info' on Grohmann knives, and saw this Grohmann #380 folder on their website.

Wow, that handle and bolsters looks awful familiar!!

Hoser or poser? Take off! It's a butey way to go.....

I was looking at the fixed blades in Victoria this summer - was thinking of getting one for a camp knife.

I miss the hump day honey's.....

So I have a question. Did Buck copy Schrade or did Schrade copy Buck. (I really don't know the answer but I would like to know).

I dont know when Schrade starting making theirs, the LB7?, but Buck started designing the 110 in 1963-ish. If I remember the story correctly, they took a look at current knives on the market and tried to glean out the good points from them and design the knife around that.
Wish I had one of those early prototypes! :D

UM YA,thats NOT 110 ,not even close,I have one and it doesn't compare, bolsters are thinner, blade looks better than it works, doesn't sharpen up good, doesn't stay sharp long, and ..........its $150 bucks, you do the math.lol

Ummm well I don't think it was an LB7. I think it was a Schrade 7OT which the LB7 was modeled after---but I don't know when the first one was made.

We've discussed the Grohmann here before; the consensus was that it is a well made quality knife. Several of the posters were native Canadians; one posts here often.

And you can get them on this side of the border for $124... ;)

It is a well made knife, they are made here in Nova Scotia and their line of fixed blades work much better.I do not know why i bought one of these other than to try it out as I couldn't get a drop point 110 .I have tested this knife out side by side with a plain 110 420 hc,If given a choice of 2 grohman folders or 1 buck 110 ,i'll take the 110.Looks nice though.lol

I agree that they are well made. When on vacation, I was able to visit them. When I got to the town, I asked a gas station how I could find them. The guy said, drive until you see a big knife sticking out of a building. Huh???
