Not too many posts about Bud Weston on the forums here.

Bud makes what appears to be a pretty nice looking large framelock that pops up from time to time at various dealer websites.

Any opinions about the workmanship and lock execution on these?

I'm not sure which one you mean. I have several of Bud's knives going back a few years. I really like his work, but you have to assess them on a knife by knife basis. mine are great, The big folder that i think you are referring to is built like a truck. Very solid. The only flaw is that the blade is huge and the thumb stud is very far forward so it is a bit difficult to open the blade using the stud alone. i also touched up the blade to sharpen it a bit. Subject to that, it's a helluva knife.

Bud Weston is one of the most under-appreciated makers out there, IMHO. Weston knives make up a large part of my collection, but this is the only framelock I have. It is one of Bud's first attempts at this style and it is my EDC (so excuse the scratches and fingerprints!)

I have a custom Bud Weston lockback on order; when it arrives, I will post photos.

Thanks, Roger! I still can't believe it - this knife actually has scratches and rub marks on it from being used. Bud will be so proud of me! ;) :D ;)

this is the one I was referring to. I was wondering about the stud placement. Thanks for the replies.

I believe that the "stud" acts like a bladestop (stop pin), a la Darrel Ralph Mad Maxx.
