Looking for any info or opinions on his knives.Does he have a website?

Thanks
Ray

Oh man! I've had one for a few weeks that I picked up from Les Robertson, and it is VERY nice! Very light. Really sweet walk & talk. The fit and finish are flawless.

I didn't even know who Bud Weston was. A forumite told me that he was a European maker who only does a few shows in Canada once in a while.

Anyway, if you buy one of his folders, I guarantee you will not be disappointed!

Les could probably give you more information on him.

I got mine from Les also, a very solid folder. Almost grabbed another off ebay a few months back but got sniped

I met him at the CKG show a few years ago. He has a page on the CKG site. I also bid on that fabulous folder on ebay and missed out. I was an idiot and should have grabbed it.
I have an older fixed blade of his that was an absolute steal. The workmanship is really precise and it's a great knife, with filework, engraving and very clean, sharp lines. If George says his work is good, that's high praise indeed.
Les Robertson is a great source for Bud's knives and if you ask him you'll get an opinion much more valuable and informed than mine. But for what it's worth, I think his work is excellent.

Thanks for the replys and info.Looks like I'm going to have to find one or get one made.Thats a sweet lookin knife he has on Les's site.

I have owned several knives made by Bud Weston. I still have one in my collection made from laminated steel. The quality of work done by Bud is amazing. He also will make whatever you ask him. His prices are very reasonable due to the fact that he lives in Chechoslovakia and dollars last a little longer there than in Canada. The few knives that I have owned were absolutely perfect. I could not find any flaws no matter how hard I have tried. Bud has his own website in addition to being featured at CKG. I also had one of his fixed blades and it had the best balance of all the fighters I own. If You e-mail him I am sure he will send you the link to his site. Alex.

I got one from Les also thanks to a good reccomendation from Kwaiken56.Great fit and finish. The blade was pretty tight when I first got it.A slight loosening of the pivot screw fixed that problem and now its smooth as glass.Les has a talent for finding these makers that no ones heard of.

Yes, it's about a time Bud gets the credit he deserves. For a long time it seemed that the only Canadian makers that interested US buyers were Greg Lightfoot and Brian Tighe. I think that Bud was too shy to actively market himself like some other makers do. And that is considering the fact that he won several European shows. I heard some criticism regarding the fact that his models resemble the knives of other well known makers. But I think if one looks objectively at this subject we can see that there are only so many basic shapes of blades and handles and the rest is just how makers mix them together and dress them up. Anyway, Bud's knives are excellent and I regret selling one of his knives, because he warned me that he will not make this design again. He has a web site now, www.westonknives.com Check it out.

My apologies to all those living in Czech Republic. I guess I was so used to calling it Chechoslovakia in my 21 years in Soviet Union that it kind of came out automatically. Please do not assume any underlying political reason in doing that. Anyway, the bottom line is that I consider Bud Weston one of the top custom folder makers. I know he can make a great fixed blade too, since I owned one. But somehow it seems to me that his real passion is folders. Maybe it presents more challenge to him? Again, my apologies. Alex.

By the way, I still say sometimes Soviet Union instead of Russia. I probably would not make that mistake if I still lived there.
