Hello fellow knife knuts,
This is my first real knife mod project that I did on a cheap $20 S&W framelock which is one of their rare "good" models. I sanded and polished the handle and blade, and used a carbide bit on my dremel to cut out the wave. I also had to reposition the clip to tip-up carry. I was inspired by STR's amazing mods and decided to give it a shot. I, of course will not be selling any modded knives. I would like to thank BladeForums.com for the opportunity to learn anything I could possibly want to know about knives, and also to thank Madcap Magician for the tips on how to post pics:D

The demo video shows opening from the left handed backhand grip, as well as the right handed forward grip.

There is nothing quite like a knife you embellished yourself. Hows it work? Looks like a good job to me. You should show the clip side as well.

I must say that it is nice to know some people actually read this drivel I post. :D The fact that some are inspired by it is even more gratifying.

Thanks

Well I'm almost ashamed to show the clip side because I'm not completely done with it yet. I originally wanted to put a low ride clip I salvaged from a Gerber ripoff of a CRKT K.I.S.S. that has been collecting dust for years. I had never drilled and tapped threads into a metal handle before, and I realized that it is a lot harder than it looks. The drill bit that came with the tap wouldn't cut into the handle and I had no drillpress. So worse came to worse and I just modded the clip as shown in these pics.

Long story short, this project involved having 2 identical knives (one sidelined with a broken tip) and mixing parts. The clip originally attatched to the pivot screw, and it had the flattened edge that keeps the back of the pivot from spinning freely. I had to cut the old clip off past the screws to do its job with the pivot, and the other clip I have ghetto rigged to the backspacer screw without the 2 small supporting screws. Tightened down tight it doesn't move around...yet. The curved slots really clash with the handle. As you can see in the pics I didn't even bother to polish off that cheap black coating from the Gerber clip. Maybe when I can figure out how to tap the holes for it. The blade is made of cheap steel and doesnt hold an edge long at all with the 25 degree total edge bevel. the way I see it, I have an extra set of hardware for the knife when the current ones fail after nonstop playing with it.

P.S.-inspecto, try to look up Madcap Magician. He made a nice guide for posting pics, I think its in his signature.
