Hi all. I bought 3 custom knives this week and my money has gone flying. I want some more so my question is: What /where can I now shop for "budget" (under/around $350) customs? any particular makers/dealers? Thanks.

You should be able to find plenty of great Custom Fixed Blade choices to fit your budget. Someone has already recommended Bob Dozier, so I will Second that recommendation. Another Great Maker is Geno Denning - you can find some of his knives In Stock on Les Robertson's Site or you can Order directly from Geno via his Website - www.cavemanengineering.com

There are a lot of knives in your price range out there. They may not have exotic materials or be very intricate in design but most will be excellent quality and will serve you well.

Check out some of the makers links on this site to get an idea of what is available.

You should look around at knifemakers in your neck of the woods.
Around here, I have several makers that I have bought from directly or indirectly.
The most I dished out for a single knife was $185.00.

I've managed to acquire a stag handled 8" blade 52100 forged Bowie and a couple of 440c neckers from Lowell Bray thru Injun Joe's Cutlery.

Three exotic wood handled hunters in 440c from Roger Bil. Two drop points and a clip. He uses Desert Ironwood, burls and woods I've never seen before, all presentation quality. He full height hollow grinds many of his blades and mirror polishes all his blades. If this man wasn't retired and doing knives basically "spare time", he could get into the Guild in a heartbeat. His knives are really high quality, top shelf stuff. I have a great deal of respect for this guy.

A forged file drop point hunter differentially tempered from Durrell Carmon Johnson (bought from a local Pawn Shop). :) He marks his blades "Carmon". I'm bummed because I had a chance to get a beautiful large stag forged file Bowie recently for $85.00(!) (also from a local Pawn Shop) and did not act quickly enough.:(

Local makers are a great source for some high quality cutlery for generally not a lot of money and one gets the added bonus of keeping money flowing within the local economy.:D

I am a newbie maker, been making for a year or so, and u can get 1, 2 or 3 knives for $300 depending on steel and stuff. I do mostly neck knives, hunters, utility and kitchen knives, flat grinds, and I work many steels available, I heat treat my own steels, and the rest goes to Paul Bos. i also do my own leather and kydex sheath work. Email me if you are interested!

How about Scott Cook of Chris Reeves Knives? Scott is on his own now and making what is basically a fixed blade Sebenza knife with many options availble, all around $200.00 or so. Bob Doziers knives are standouts at this price point. Geno Denning makes a nice knife. And don't forget about Neil Blackwood.

I gotta tell you to look at David Demsey's knives. Great designs, beautifully finished. A delight to hold and use! I just got one at SECKS in Winston-Salem. They're a bargin, but don't tell David that until I've bought a couple more!!!

Knife doctor, I couldnt agree with you more. I couldnt make the SECK, so David stopped by my hometown on his way home and I picked up a D Fighter I. It is an awesome knife and if I had the extra money at the time, I would have taken a Kozuda and a neck knife. Super nice guy. I agree with you that his prices will probably go up when he gets more exposure.
