Hi all,
Seeing that I live in Maine and now that I am obsessed with Axes, Hatchets, Tomahawks, Knives, etc. I (as was suggested by BF members) have been hitting the Flea Markets, Yard Sales, Antique shops etc. in an effort to find vintage Axes/Hatchets/Heads. Now, I have for well over a dozen years been scrounging out these type of places in search of items for some of my other OBSESSIVE hobbies such as (for instance) Vintage Audio gear, mostly Tube gear/Speakers etc.
Today, I found one of these : http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/saddle-cruiser-axe-small-6-lb-double-115920917
This little six inch, double bit (stamped) "SADDLE CRUISER" Hatchet cost me less than eight dollars! I just can't help myself.....this Hatchet just sort of called out to me (buy me, buy me). This Hatchet appears to be in very nice physical condition (save needing a new handle). I closely examined the Head and saw no "hair line" cracks. The two blades (while needing some minor attention) should come back nicely! Might anyone have any idea WHO makes (and age) of this "SADDLE CRUISER" ? The ONLY engraving/stamping I can find on this Hatchet (as shown in the Worth Point pic) are the words "SADDLE CRUISER" (in script, sideways) in the middle of the Head. Special thanks to Worth Point for the use of the picture. Once re-hung, I think this lil' Hatchet will make a nice handy belt carry Axe.
Regards,
HARDBALL
