Hi everyone,

I'm searching for an acceptable quality smaller fixed blade karambit up to $100, and I'm stuck.
What would you recommend?

Remembering a comparision in the german knife magazin, the best budget fixed karambit was the Emerson karambit.

To their opinion, his one has have the best handle.

That is a nice one for sure, but it goes about $170. Actually why I asked for you guys' help is that I found almost nothing convincing at the $70-100 level.

If you can settle for a folder, The 5:11 Journeyman can be had for about $100. I'm coming up empty though re. a fixed blade for $100.

I purchased a small karambit from Valiant Co. in Australia, cost was 85 Aussie Dollars plus shipping. No fancy stainless blade or composite handle materials, but traditional and handmade. Pretty decent little blade after a little work on the grind and sharpening.

The production Derespina Model 10 is a great one if you can find one somewhere. They are now out of production but sold for about $85.

Mantis knives has questionable marketing practices sometimes but they have a new small fixed karambit called the Mrs. Smith karambit.

The best folder for the money has been previously mentioned and that is the 5.11 Journeyman karambit. About $89 plus shipping at a few online retailers.

Thank you for the answers so far!

The Derespina model 10 would be fantastic, but the man now makes 'em as customs for $325 :)
The blade of the Mrs. Smith is a little bit too short for me.

And no folders ;)

nothing else really comes to mind. there is the 10 dollar combat ready karambit :/

I was going to recommend Valiant as well. Mine's a beaut, but unlike almost everything else I've got from them, the kerambit came dull as a doorknob. Possibly e-mailing Suwandi beforehand to specifically request a sharp one would work if one couldn't be bothered taking the necessary time to get it up to standard.

I don't know if Kukulza checks the general section, but in the past he's pointed me to other vendors that also offer traditional, attractive kerambit for good prices... sometimes half of what Valiant's cost.

I think Derespina has talked about finding a new manufacturer for the production Model 10. His custom version has been around and both custom and production models were sold at the same time.

Keep looking for a model 10. They surface from time to time.

Thanks, that is what I'm doing. I can second your information about the new manufacturer :)
